You will not be disappointed here. Food is great but stick with these for a no fail visit:
Stuffed Shrimp, Perch, Steak, Duck, and Clam Chowder if they have it. Drinks are solid. Go There!!!

Great place for seafood or really anything on the menu. Drinks are good, appetizers are excellent. The servers are special, always friendly and courteous.

It's a comfortable cozy restaurant with good food and good service. Their lake perch seemed to be right out of the lake.

I was looking forward to a special dinner. Maybe it's true that distance lends enchantment.
But even after an hour's drive to get here, the anticipation and expectation did not engender a special experience. It wasn't bad, by any means, it just wasn't "special" or extraordinary. And for a half rack of ribs with a handful of fried perch, $30 seems just a little high for that entree. Our wine was $8 and $9/glass so that's reasonable. The whitefish special was $25. For OK flavor. Perhaps if the sky wasn't clouded over we would have at least had the enchantment of a nice sunset.
The tables are very close together which, although maximizes guests per square foot, puts the backs of chairs sometimes bumping against a guest at an adjacent table. Certainly, there's nothing special about being crowded.
Charity, our server, was very good. Although she was quite busy she was attentive, helpful and pleasant. She also boxed up our leftovers for us which was a convenience.
Whether or not the sky is cloudy, I'd recommend asking for a table next to the west window. Although it overlooks a driveway, somewhat of a view of Lake Michigan lies beyond and it's better to have that space on one side of your table than being squeezed in next to a group of loud raucous guests on all sides. Besides, there is the possibility of a view.
In any regard, make sure you get a reservation. It must be that a lot of people are enchanted with Grand Mere Inn. I'm just not one of them.

Regardless of the type of cuisine you prefer, the menu will have something for you.
The staff are great and the food is wonderful. The sunsets over Lake Michigan are spectacular as viewed from the windows in the dining room. A great place to go.
