The selection of trains is broad and sometimes a free short ride is offered.

“Take a train to Two Harbors.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2012

The museum is worth visitng yearround but I'd opt for a summer/fall visit and ride the train to Two Harbors and its interesting railroad station and exhibits. Views of Lake Superior are a bit spotty but enough to satisfy. Check their schedule for the occasional steam engine runs (usually on weekends). The museum is right downtown and has an excellent collection of rolling stock, some of which needs refurbishing. Great for all ages.

“busy for hours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

There's a lot more to this museum than old trains! The museum has a collection of hundreds--if not thousands--of donated antiques. There's plenty to keep an avid photographer or a young child busy for hours. We spent a solid 3 hours checking everything out. It was well worth the price of admission!
