“Yummy Prawn Noodles ”

Kedai Makanan Yew Hin

This is a typical ‘coffee shop’ in Dengkil. Plastic/laminate tables and plastic chairs cooled by oscillating ceiling fans. Nothing fancy; just a simple ‘every day’ place to get a meal.

We ordered the house specialty ‘Sang Har Meen’; roughly translates into Fresh Prawn Noodles. The prawns were fresh & large; maybe slightly over cooked. The gravy was very tasty and together with the egg noodles and prawns made the dish delicious.

We ordered ‘Chun Kuen’ which are deep-fried spring rolls. The filling of minced pork was well marinated and the spring rolls were crispy and mouth-watering.

Service was warm and friendly. There is still a small village vibe where everyone was your friend and the conversations felt comfortable and familiar.

Go before peak hours if possible. This place is really packed during lunch hours. Their usual operating hours are 10.30am to about 3pm so expect huge crowds and long waits from 12pm to 2pm on most days.

If you are in Dengkil area and are looking for seafood during lunch hour, give this place a try. Their prawns are huge, the cooking is great. The gravy was so tasty that we needed rice to absorb the gravy left on our plates, nothing goes to waste. We ordered other seafood and fishes too, again they were yummy. The seafood was fresh especially the prawns, they were so juicy and meaty, you will want to have more...

We were actually planning to patronise the more popular neighbouring Restaurant Sin Ki but it was closed so we had no choice but to settle for this untried Restaurant Yew Hin .

The limited photos of the main dishes were not appealing to start. They ran out of Sugar cane juice, the Sang Har ( prawn) noodle used a thick kind of noodle which made it less tastier and the sauce was rather runny. The rice vermicelli dish with pork was very oily that it was rather inedible, the fried fish in chili Padi (tiny hot chilli) was nice but extremely spicy, the chow koay teow was just ok, the spare pork rib dish was so-so but too pricey.

If not for the other restaurant not open, we would not have patronise this particular restaurant.

The staff are friendly and nice and it's a traditional Chinese restaurant no frills setup.

Based on food quality, Won't be back.

Prawn noodle and fried spring roll are our favourite. Prawn noodle is on pricey side.

Ambience is not so so great, aged. Could be crowded and hot especially after 12.30pm.
