While it's a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life, it's way too expensive for the facilities they offer.
In summary:
Pros: Nice shared swimming pool, getaway in the jungle, hot shower available
Cons: Lots of insects, not extremely clean, meals not provided and food not readily available, not child-friendly, expensive
I stayed at Glass Box 2 (for 2 pax) for RM300/night. As it's supposed to be a jungle experience, glamping style, you can expect lots of bugs and mosquitoes, especially at night when the lights are on. (The light attracts insects.) Despite the mosquito netting and mosquito coils provided, tiny insects were still able to find their way to our beds. Be prepared to sleep with the insects.
Some portions of the curtains were also a bit moldy. Again, jungle experience = damp and wet conditions. Don't expect pristine white bedsheets/blankets/curtains and spotless floors.
I also wouldn't recommend having kids anywhere near the glass boxes, because the pathways leading up to the accommodation are really narrow (2 to 3-feet wide) and steep, with no barriers to stop you from a drop of a couple of metres. No handles to hold on to either. It's also pitch black at night and the torch light is your only saving grace.
The shared swimming pools were nice though.
There are NO EATERIES anywhere near Sekeping Serendah, and they only provide the option of the caretaker preparing a meal for you at a price of RM20/head ONLY if there are min 4 pax in the group. As there were only 2 of us, this option wasn't available to us. As such, we had to bring our own ingredients from home to prepare our own simple meals at the shared kitchen (which only provided forks, spoons, plates, a wok, a turner/spatula, gas stove, washing detergent and sponge). Again, insects tend to get into your food.
While the option to have a bbq was available, we didn't opt for that as we figured the food would take too long to cook.
Glass Box 2 had a mini fridge, a kettle and an oven toaster (essentially you can only toast bread). So, bread (which we brought ourselves) for breakfast was a no-brainer. However, they did provide some sachets of chocolate malt (Milo) and coffee (Nescafe).
Overall, if it were half the price, I would still go back there again to get away from city life and 'be one with nature'. But at the current price of RM300 for the cheapest accommodation, I wouldn't.
