Away from the citu

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Sept 2017via mobile
Indeed away from the fast spaced world.

Location is far away from KLIA 2,about 1.5hours with taxi. Limited resources in term of food, got to bring in from outside. Limited wifi access which allows more interactions, bonding time. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Open concept of showering, Facing the forest. Cool concept which I have not experience as this kind of nature concept is not available in Singapore.

With the price, do not expect high standards of cleanliness and height standards of service. One in a lifetime experience 😁😁😁

We sleptin glass box 2. This feels like sleeping in the jungle with fantastic views (you can close the windows of the glass box to protect yourself from insects etc.). Nice terrace (view of the stars among others), handy fridge and option to do bbq. We only brought noodles and a salad with us, which gave a cosy atmosphere. Location can be found easily with the waze app and the caretaker guides you to your box in the jungle. There are two swimming pools nearby. These are very beautiful and peaceful!

My boyfriend and I travel and camp a lot so when we travelled to Malaysia, a night in the rain forest was a no-brainer. We are not fussy people and fully expect to be pummelled by bugs, no wi-fi and endless rain. We are used to roughing it out, but we decided to splurge on this experience. We booked the Glass box 1 for the first night and mud hut for the second night. While I think the idea of this place is appealing, the execution is cheaply done.
Our glass box had dirty sheets, dead bugs were simply swept the the corner of or room, and the amenities were sparse. The outdoor shower was unkempt an mouldy, the light was not working so we had to use our own torch.
The mud hut smelled so damp and the smell clung to our clothes. Again, the bathroom was mouldy, the floors blackened with dirt and the finishing of the structure itself was shabby - plastic bags and tape to cover up holes.

No towels were provided and when we asked for them, the staff acted surprised as to why we would need them.

There are no amenities to speak of - bar a small fridge.

The environment was loud throughout the night with rich teenagers using the "retreat" as a party spot.

    They staff are stand-offish.

They gates shut at 10 pm and when we wanted to leave to explore or go for dinner, the staff kept reminding us that they will not open the gate if we broke curfew.

The pool area has no places to sit, except metal-cage-type postmodern looking excuses for "chairs" that felt like sitting on barbed wire.

Overall, the concept of this place is so damn good, the location - stunning! But what they've made out of it isn't even worth half of the price they are charging. Save your ringgits and spend it on a fancy hotel.

Room tip: Just...don't go here until they improve what they're offering

I had been wanting to go to Sekeping Serendah for a long time and finally had the occasion when some overseas friends came to visit KL. We chose a Thursday night as weekends are typically booked out. Unfortunately the experience did not live up to our expectations. The booking process is very confusing. There was no information on check-in time so we planned to go after dinner but were called by the property at 7pm asking us to make our way because the caretaker was waiting for us. The property did not provide towels, over bed sheet (under bed sheet only) or any food whatsoever. For the price we paid we felt it was not acceptable. I understand they cater to a lot of small groups who bring their own food but what about tourists who simply want to experience a memorable night in the jungle? Besides these points related to service/hospitality the property is gorgeous, very interesting architecture and great pools!

I loved the experience staying in an open-air lodge with Sekeping Serendah. Not difficult to locate with mobile apps, the outdoors are well-maintained, pathway feels a lot convenient to walk at night. They have two swimming pools, I loved the one with water coming from the waterfall, no chlorine feels more natural and quieter. The other pool comes with the concept of infinity pool, more crowded and with chlorine, but this opens until night time. We failed to locate them for night swim because all we seen was nothing but darkness and we didn't see any signage.
If you are not an outdoor person, avoid coming here. Reality comes when the dark arrives, where everyone needs lighting, so does the countless night flies going all around us for lights.
Water supply need to be fixed immediately considering the price we paid, it was so serious when we turn the tap and nothing comes out by that very morning. We left unbathed after whole night of sweat barbecueing and the humid in Serendah.

We stayed 3D2N in Sekeping. Located within the forest, the space is decent and definitely a unique experience for city dwellers.

The space was not the cleanest but bearable. The shower facilities were a little old and the running water from the brass shower had a strong iron/metal taste and smell.

The caretaker does his job but don't expect any 'go-the-extra-mile' service. We were given an electric kettle with exposed wiring which is a safety hazard, yet he refused to give us any replacement because "still can use".

    Some other things to note...
    - do expect dogs, bugs, insects etc. (caretaker warned us of snakes but thankfully we didn't encounter any)
    - mosquitoes are aplenty
    - bring sufficient food, snacks, water and entertainment along. We couldn't locate any provision stores within walking distance where we could stock up on food or snacks.
    - there's no telephone, no wifi nor phone connection. in case of emergency or for any assistance, there's a bell right outside the glass house which you can ring for caretaker's attention
    - bring your own bedsheet if you prefer to sleep on clean sheets
    - do not bring your valuables

The 2-storey accommodation has both ceiling fans in the living and sleeping quarters. As it is within a forest, as such, temperature can be rather chilly from the evening to early morning. The safety of the premises is very basic (with a lock - only can be locked from the outside of the house).

With a luxury pricing but a less than luxury space, the overall value is lacking. However, it is definitely a worthwhile experience if you are looking the escape the hustle and bustle of city living for a quiet retreat in the rainforest.
