We recently moved to Mississippi from Florida. We left a wonderful church in Crestview, FL. We attended services at Pascagoula, MS, Ocean Springs, MS, Biloxi, MS, Long Beach, MS, and finally found a church family in Gulfport, MS. Pastor Claire and Pastor Cleo welcomed us with open arms the first time we walked through the door. Several members also welcomed us on our first visit. The congregation is warm and comfortable. The mission statement of FUMC-Gulfport is: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Pastor Claire and Pastor Cleo live their lives as example of this mission. They are an inspiration to my wife and me. "All are welcome" is the mantra. If you are ever visiting Gulfport, MS and are looking for a church to give you an uplifting experience, FUMC-Gulfport is for you. If you live on the Gulf coast and are looking for a church "home" give FUMC-Gulfport a visit. We did and are thankful and feel blessed to be part of this church family.

Visited this beautiful church. The people were very friendly. The pastor was a visiting pastor so I have not heard the local one.

We went to the Gulfport City Hall because our GPS could not find the Visitor Center we had entered -- duh, the Hurricane made short work of that. We saw the City Hall and stopped in. We were introduced to Princess, who would help us with the address of the new Visitor Center. As she was looking up the information, she asked us where we were from. When we said Upstate New York, a young man popped out of his office and asked us where. Turns out he lived about an hr away from us when he was small. He took us outside and showed us several places to see and eat at, and then he invited us to a Lenten lunch at the First United Methodist Church of Gulfport. I'm Catholic, but he said all were welcome. We went there for lunch, and so glad we did. Everyone friendly, the two female Reverands were young and energetic. They introduced the speaker of the day, Mike Beyerstedt of the gulfport Fire Department. My husband and I were both taken with his testimonial of his faith -- he had been Catholic forever until he met his wife, and then got baptised Methodist. Thank you Chris Vignes, Public Information Officer, for telling us about the Lenten lunch. (Later that eveningm we again ran into Chris at the Bacchus restaurant! What are the chances of that?
