I visited here with our 3 kiddos before they went back to school. The slides were fun for the older kids and they had a lot of fun. The wave pool was nice and clean but got easily crowded when the waves started. They offer free rafts to ride on in the wave pool and lazy river. My 2 year old enjoyed the kiddy area but she really wanted to try the larger slides but they don't allow littles to sit on laps like some other water parks do. The sprinkler area for toddlers had lots of clogged sprinklers...and a few not working at all. The yellow slide allowed them to slide right off and drop about half a foot before hitting the ground...so be there to catch them!! They did have rubber mats at the bottom of the slides but they moved and kids were playing with them....so not the greatest solution to the issue. About half of the lounge chairs by the toddler area were missing the strips to hold you up...some only were missing a few some a lot. I realize it was almost the end of season and maybe this is normal wear and tear after a busy summer? We went on tuesday and its a buy one get one free day. For that price i think the park was still a good deal.

My family was scheduled to stay at this park July 14-17. We booked 3 cabins & 3 golf carts. My cabin had 2 adults, the second cabin had 2 adults and 2 teenagers (15 & 16), and the third cabin had 2 adults and 3 kids (8, 15, & 16). At check-in, there was a lot of confusion because I booked my cabin on my own and the other 2 were on the same reservation. They couldn't figure out how to allow that second reservation to be split between 2 cards (since there were 2 separate families paying). Check-in took us 30 mins, which is far too long. There was someone in there at the same time trying to rent a golf cart and they quit working with us to help her. There were 3 people working the desk with 2 computers and 2 other workers coming in and out. Definitely not a great first impression. We had a cabin that they designated "pet friendly", so we were told we had to pay a pet fee even though we brought no animals with us. After checking in, we got our golf carts (which were overpriced) only to find out that the licensed teenage drivers were not allowed to drive the electric/battery powered golf carts. The park was more comfortable with them driving full size pickup trucks around the park where young children were running all over. It made absolutely no sense. They are used to driving gas golf carts when we camp, so that took away an activity that they had been looking forward to. After getting to our cabins, we entered to find severe moisture issues causing the paneling on the walls to bow out as well some flooring to be raised. The cabin was also very musty smelling. The cabin was clean at least, so we unpacked our things and went to drive around on our golf cart. It was then we discovered our golf cart battery showed E and would not charge. It had enough juice that we could drive it to the front. We were given a different cart after they put air in the replacement's flat tire. This one had no battery charge indicator, so we drove it back to our cabin hoping it was a better cart. Unfortunately, it had very little braking or accelerating ability compared to our first cart, but it drove, so we kept it. (Note: We paid $170 for the cart for 3 days). We were going to have a bonfire at the 2 Rustic Cabins we'd rented since they were side by side, but a couple minutes in we started to smell a sewer smell. We assumed it was stagnant water in the ditch beside our cabins and moved to the 3rd cabin in our party, (Deluxe Lake View Cabin) for our bonfire. After that, we headed back to our own cabin to shower and go to bed. That's when we discovered we had no hot water. Since it was after 11 pm we just cleaned off as best we could using wet washcloths. In the morning, we went to the store/registration building so that we could buy ice and let them know about the maintenance issue. We waited in line for 5 minutes before a cashier could help because the cashier for the store was also the person checking out people as they were leaving from their stay. It's ridiculous that there isn't a separate line for the convenience store. Maintenance did get us a new hot water heater quickly, but never notified us that they were working on the issue or had completed the repair/swap. The only reason we knew was we heard something behind our cabin and saw them driving off on a golf cart carrying a hot water heater. We all went to the water park using the Stay N Play package that day. It was only $10/person that way, but wasn't even worth that. The water park was so tiny. The adult pool is still being advertised on their website, however it is not open. In fact, it's totally blocked off and looks like it hasn't been used for awhile. That means there's no area at all where you can relax as an adult. The lazy river is very short. Just one small lap that runs around where the motel pool sized, closed adult pool. There were kids off their tubes just running around dragging their tubes behind them or leaving them altogether. The lifeguard didn't say a word to anyone. The wave pool and kid's area looked to be ok, although small. The slides emptied into dinky pools and there was nowhere that you could actually swim. The tiki bar's drinks were reasonably priced, as was the food, but the line to get food took 40 minutes at 2 pm. The workers there were incredibly unfriendly. Also, the water park bathrooms were swamped with water and the stalls were very tiny. I am only 5' and not obese. I should be able to get out of a stall without having to lift my foot up and around the toilet to swing the door all the way open. They were obviously made for 5 year olds. All of the kids with us left the water park after just a few hours to go back to the cabins. These are kids who entertain themselves for hours when we go to the lake or river, or even in their own swimming pools at home. They decided to go hang out at the arcade that was advertised on the website. Their parents sent them with cash to the arcade. About 20 minutes later, I went to buy ice and a drink at the store and the kids were in line. I asked what they were doing and they said the change machine (to get quarters) was broken so they'd been in line waiting to get quarters. I grabbed a drink and got in line behind them, but my husband suggested we not grab the ice since the line was so long. It took 10 minutes for them to finish helping the people in front of us. Turns out, they turn the cashier's line into the check-in line as well after a certain time. Once again, something that should have taken 2 minutes took 20. When the kids got to the front of the line, they handed the cashier a $20 and said they'd like to get change for the arcade. The woman just stared at the like she couldn't understand what they meant. They tried to explain that the change machine was broken and she said, "Oh the ATM?". This went on for another minute until I finally told her they needed quarters for the arcade. After helping the kids, we were next, and paid for the ice and my drink, which was now warm. My husband swapped it out for a cold bottle and grabbed our ice. In 30 minutes or so, the kids all came back to the cabin. When we asked how the arcade was, they said there was a pool table and some arcade/video games, but that the majority were broken so they couldn't play them. In the meantime, another of our golf carts quit shifting. We had to run up to the front again to let them know it was broken. They came back to get it, but had no replacement to give us, so that cabin was refunded for their golf cart. It was also the second day that we discovered the cause of the sewage smell near the Rustic Cabins. The sewage treatment pond was right next to the fishing pond in front of the Rustic Cabins. When we woke up the next morning, three of us went to Mark Twain Lake to fish because we were bored to tears at that point. While there, everyone else decided they were ready to check out early. We agreed, so we all left 24 hours before we had to, and of course we weren't refunded. (Which is understandable as it's standard policy). The frustrating thing is no one bothered to ask why we were checking out early. There was no concern on their part. Most places would have asked if we were happy with our stay, if we were leaving for personal reasons, if there was anything they could improve, etc. You'd think that when 3 cabins (11 people) all checked out 24 hours early, they might want to know what the problem was. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though...They'd already got all the money they could from us.

Other issues we had throughout the weekend:
- Mouse droppings found on the counter one morning.
- The cashiers had a hard time if you wanted to pay with cash and not have them charge the card you'd checked in with.
- You couldn't drive the golf carts after 11 pm.
- We saw paddle boats on the larger pond, but there was no info in our registration packet (or anywhere we saw posted) to let us know if they could be rented. We would have asked, but everything took so long as the store that we were through wasting time standing in line.
- We tried the campground pool twice and both times there were unsupervised young children doing cannon balls and belly flops in the middle of the pool. They were splashing everyone in the pool, including women holding infants. There was no lifeguard on duty. Also, you couldn't take food or drinks into the pool area. The pool itself was smaller than the pool at the cheapest hotel. It was nowhere near big enough for a campground facility that boasts 230+ spots.
- The ceiling fan on the most expensive of the 3 cabins (Deluxe Lake View Cabin) made a racket and swung around any time it was turned on. The wobbling made us turn it off. We'd rather be miserable in the heat than have someone get a concussion from a falling fan.
- Our shower drained slow (once we had hot water and could use it). You stood in ankle deep water while showering.

I'm sure I'll remember more details after posting this because it was just problem after problem, but they've already taken up way more of my time than I ever cared to give them. For anyone thinking of staying here, learn from my mistake, and believe the bad reviews you see.

$25 per person for very little to do. Filthy and trash cluttered all over the place. The yellow slide was the second one I went down after being there 15 minutes. It was very fast and at the end it twists you and I landed on my knees and busted them all up. The life guard said the pool wasn't completely filled yet that she was putting more water in it at that time. That's great. All the life guards sat all day long. No interaction with the guests. We won't be back.

I'm probably not even gonna remember all the terrible things about this place because there are so many to list. There were 3 cabins our family had reserved for 3 nights. 3 married couples in our 30's with children ages 8 & 15-16. For starters checkin was so weird and long and confusing. There seemed to be too many people standing around getting in the middle of things and making it more hectic. The cabin smelled very bad, at first like overkill on the pinesol then later musty, the walls were severely water damaged, I found mouse droppings on the kitchen counter in the morning, the ceiling fan on the porch is gonna fall on someone's head any day now, day 2 we had to go to the front for more trash bags and toilet paper. Day 2! And even then all they had to give us were small bathroom sized trash bags. Also, one of our golf carts broke down and they didn't have a replacement for it, there was a terrible sewage smell around the cabins that are next to the campground, they had to replace a hot water heater in my brothers cabin, the arcade is a joke as most games weren't working and the change machine was broken, don't even bother to ask the women inside the store for change, it's like you're speaking a different language, horrible front desk service. You have to wait 10 minutes just to purchase ice because they have 4 people standing around trying to check people in and out and you have to wait in line behind all that insane paperwork to be filled out and explained and signed and initialed. They really should have one of those people just run a register so you can purchase items in a timely manner. Hello!? Now The waterpark. Ok well since we got in so cheap I didn't think I'd find much to complain about. But when your only adult pool is closed down you should prob come up with a solution if you're not gonna fix the pool. There's a lazy river that would easily work for a place for only adults. Why would kids enjoy that anyway? All the other stuff there is kid friendly. Just a suggestion. Also, you should get to the waterpark before they open and get in line or you won't even have one single chair to place your items on. We ended up using beach towels under a tree for our stuff. The tiki bar and food was very reasonably priced. The tiki bar is another spot for adults but anyone with a screaming kid sat there while they drank and smoked and ate. The small pool at the campground was very busy. No lifeguard on duty which is fine for us responsible parents that go with our children to the pool. But there were several unsupervised kids running and flipping off the edge and just making it miserable for everyone else. Thanks lazy parents for ruining everyone else's time while you relaxed without your heathens! Also if you're taking teenagers that have a drivers license but aren't 18 yet, they will not let them drive a battery powered golf cart! We thought the kids would really enjoy the golf carts and getting to drive themselves around. We had two licensed 16 year olds with us. Nope. I guess they think it's safer for them to drive a real car around a campground where there's kids running and riding bikes everywhere. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but left a day early because nobody was having any fun. We all felt so much better when we made the decision to start packing up. Never been so excited for a vacation to end! We've all been sick and upset and were left feeling extremely disappointed with the waste of time and money spent on this place. I would not recommend to anyone. I will never go back. It's a joke and it kinda felt like we got scammed into this place and then once there it's like haha!! Gotcha! You can't get your money back now! Too late sucka! Maybe update the website to reflect all the crap that doesn't work. They need to really put some money into renovations and management. I hate feeling depressed after a trip.

Just returned from our 11th family reunion at Mark Twain Landing. This place works great for our family of 31. We always have a great time staying three days and two nights. Ages range from 70 to 4 months with the majority being teenagers We do the two day stay and play at the campground and waterpark and it is an economical way to spend the time together. We usually rent four cabins and one RV spot and we are able to all be side by side with a campfire in the middle common space. We decided to try the deluxe cabins after 10 years of renting the family cabins but will go back to them next year. The layouts of the deluxe are just not worth the extra cost. With four of the sleeping spaces being in a loft it just does not work for adults to sleep up there. All in all we have a great time and will return again. Kids love the activities such as the kareoke and water wars. Tons of fun!

Room Tip: If your wanting to sleep 8 unless four are kids the deluxe cabins are not adult friendly.
