Staying at Governor's Lodge Resort is probably the best & most convenient accommodation on the Island. The duty free shopping is a bit outdated and there are no bargains to be had - that we could find anyway. The local supermarket is a bit sad so self catering is quite difficult to cope with. There is no AC at all on the island so if you don't like the humidity & heat you will be uncomfortable as there is only fans in the units. We found 3 very nice places to eat at - for evening meals the one directly opposite the Governor's Lodge was wonderful. The restaurant at the Lodge was okay but not great sorry to say. It would be wise of Governors to include breakfast in their package - it is expensive & not really very good so we did our own (but no toasters or microwave in the unit which is bad) or went down town for coffee etc. The Orb Cafe is very good for coffee / breakfast or lunch - home cooking and a lovely couple run it.

Very nice accommodation and about a 20 minute walk to shops
and a few restaurants including the Chinese restaurant which is
the only BYO restaurant on the island.
Rooms are not air conditioned but ceiling fans are adequate for
most of the time. Also, no in room security safes which is a must
for a four star hotel.
Buffet breakfast does not include any fresh fruit and just about
everything is out of a can including the tomatoes.
Norfolk Island is mostly for older mature people and you really
need a motor vehicle to get around in. Most of the tours are
quite expensive considering they do not pay any income tax
on the island and restaurants are also quite expensive so
generally this is not for families. All of the local clubs are in
need of renovation and generally very run down and no
atmostphere whatsoever. Best food we had on the island
was at Oceanworld and the Chinese restaurant and both
were reasonable value for money.
Norfolk Island is one of the most beautiful islands in the world
today with no pollution and no high rise buildings and also
no beachfront accommodation. A must visit island!

Always a pleasure to stay here. Breakfast buffet was extremely wide
and staff are always so friendly & helpful. Pool & spa were terrific.
Rental car parked for you outside your room or ready to pick up at airport made everything run smoothly.

This resort was a great place to stay. The accommodation was spacious and very clean. The apartment had a nice lounge and dining area plus a spacious bedroom and a bathroom. The hotel is very quiet so no chance of having a disturbed nights sleep from noisy neighbours or plumbing.
The amenties were great and nothing appeared too much trouble for the staff. They were always helpful and provided us with extras such as a coffee plunger so we could sample the locally grown coffee.
The resteraunt was very good with a varied menu. Breakfast was fine and they did the best they could given that the island relies heavily on the produce they are able to grow. This was evident in fruit as only banans and rockmelons were availble. However the fresh produce was very tasty.
The hotel is in a good location with some very good reseteraunt close by. Also the shops are an easy walk.
