Owner description: The Norfolk Island Museum reveals to you Norfolk's amazing and multi-layered stories. Famous for its colourful history, the island was first settled by Polynesians, then in 1788 by the British who later made it a convict hellhole. Since 1856 it has been home to the descendants of the Bounty mutineers. Located in a number of heritage buildings in Kingston, our museums and research centre help you explore our turbulent past as well as today's living culture.

The museum's are set out so well, and manned by knowlegable and interested persons. If you have the time to respectfully appreciate the efforts made to display these timeless displays, you will thank yourself for taking the time and being interested. The locals will also assist you to learn so much about our own history. Don't go near closing time, or you will be truly missing out.

Immerse yourself back in time, while at the same time meeting locals who potentially share the same name as a Bounty Crew Member. Loved the historic pieces housed here, a great selection of historical relevant books to purchase, First Fleet Chart and Maps. Take time to obsserve the relics housed in here, it really does give you an insight into bygone times of enormous difficulty and sadness and bravery.

Everything that is Norfolk Island is at Kingstown, The history is incredible, but the first time at least should be with a guided tour to get the best out of what you are seeing
