So good we have two mugs on the wall. Love their beer. The American Revolution was won in pubs. The ability to sit, talk and share ideas over a beer is what a pub is all about. Some of the newer breweries seem to think loud and distracting is good. Maddy River is the quintessential brewery. Copper Johns, Salmon Fly, Cream, Irresistible Amber.

MRBC is brewing beers WAY over what their humble taproom and decor would suggest. As my title says, I'd put the beers here head to head with any other same style beer at any brewery in the nation... legit, they're that good.

I'm a local frequent customer, but don't let stop you from dropping in for a brew. With a VERY convenient location to the airport (read, it's right across the street), you can't find a place any closer - flying in or out of town! They are also planning on opening a new taproom off of Alaska Road, just south of the I-90 running through Belgrade, so again, a perfect location for those venturing to Big Sky.

The new Session IPA is awesome for those days when you want an IPA, but not the "Juice" (also an amazing brew). Also, you can ask the bar backs to mix two brews. Hopper/Dropper is a very popular one. If you're into Scotch Ales, their Copper John is NOT TO BE MISSED!! (Yep, it's even better than Cold Smoke Scotch Ale).

Bring some growlers because you will NOT be satisfied leaving empty handed! You'll definitely want to bring some with you!

We drove to Belgrade to visit Madison River Brewing Co. on a Monday evening. It was rather busy with a crowd of mostly locals (always a good sign for a brewery) though it was not a problem to get a seat at the bar. I ended up trying a flight consisting of the Salmon Fly Honey Rye, the Copper John Scotch Ale, the Hopper Pale Ale, and the Dropper IPA. Each beer was very good in its own way, though I ended up finally deciding to purchase a six-pack of the IPA to enjoy during the rest of the week. This is a top-notch and highly authentic Montana brewery - with beautiful labels on their bottles, I might add.

Montana law stipulates that a taproom can serve a maximum of 48oz. of beer per person per day, so taste a few and then buy something to take with you.

We dropped into Madison River Brewing with some friends who live in Bozeman. This is a very convivial place - laid back with good brews. We especially liked the Elk Hair ESB.
