Walking in to the Montana Bar is stepping back in time. The rear room looks remodeled, but the saloon portion is lovely. Tile floors, plenty of brass, and a great back bar. The icing on the cake though is the row of mounted steer heads! Yes, steer heads. Not moose, not deer, not elk ; cows. You'll love it. (There was a mounted bison head. guess I missed the Bighorn sheep!)
Also the beer is good and they have a great steak sandwich. Our bartender, server was friendly and glad to answer questions about Miles City and other interesting places to try.

We were urged to stop there by family and friends. It was interesting to read the brochure about the history of the building. We had burgers and beers there. I had the stuffed burger for $15 and my husband had the Montana burger for $13. The food was very good but a little expensive for a burger. But the historic bar mad up for it!

It is apparently one of the oldest bars in Miles City, MT. We enjoyed getting to see the full size mounted extinct Audubon Bighorn Sheep that is in the front window. And the old bar is unique too! There are several head mounts of buffalo and longhorns. Very comfortable atmosphere and good burgers.

We stopped in here for a meal after the KOA host recommended it. The history of the place is interesting.
The burgers that we ordered were okay. My Mushroom/Swiss burger was big but a bit over cooked. The hubby said his Mac Daddy burger was tasty but we both had a hard time enjoying them to the fullest because of having to fight off the flies. If you sit at the original bar to eat, request a fly swatter with your meal.

Why eat in a fern bar restaurant when you can eat in an historic business. From the mosaic tile floor to the frosted glass, elegant back bar, this building is the way it was. But there is one reason to eat in a fern bar restaurant -- the food will be better. Very disappointed.
