The resort is easy to find and identify. As one turns the roundabout to go into Desaru proper it is the first resort on the left and it has turrets with little flags. It is like a fairytale castle. It even has its own water theme park.
The weekend I stayed here was fully booked, however, check in was efficient. The resort is huge but there is a multi-seater buggy to shuttle guests from the various buildings to the clubhouse which is the happening place. The only complaint I have is that the shuttle needs waiting for about 15-20 minutes although they tell you its every 5-10 minutes. At any one time there is only one buggy going around. Perhaps they could cut down the waiting time for guests by having 2 buggies going around cos I noticed that one buggy will be parked near the clubhouse while the other is going its rounds. So when I have an old person with me who has trouble walking it’s a hassle as she will be standing with us at the side of the road in front of our block and under the hot sun; and from our block the clubhouse was the other end.
It is fantastic otherwise - especially the night activities they take the trouble to organise for families. Dance and Zumba performance, lovely music with excellent sound system, and activities for children such as blowing soap bubbles.
There are various outlets but the one I especially like because of its superb service was the beachside restaurant serving Chinese / Thai cuisine - I forgot its name. It has a very good standalone male singer belting out nostalgic evergreens that simply suit the breezy environment by the sea.
Breakfast spread was exhaustive with wonderful selections and the seafronting outlet had many tables so there will never be short of seats. Speed of service was the essence and replenishment of food was efficient.
Surprisingly the service at the coffee house was laid back, where staff tended to crowd around and missed the attention required of them by guests.
Overall I enjoyed my stay very much. I have been here many times before and although there are many new and more glitzy branded hotels coming up in Desaru I will still be back because it is down to earth, personable and offers attention to detail.
