My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Jumpin Jay's on Monday night and we are kicking ourselves for waiting so long between visits. I enjoyed a "Red Hot and Dirty" and he got an American Mule for our celebration cocktails. Both were perfectly delicious! He got the Alaskan King crab legs for an appetizer and the sauce that accompanies these is ah-mazing! Sort of a creamy horseradish concoction that is out of this world. I got the Maine crab cake with a lemon tarragon aioli which was also yummy. We both got haddock piccata (his = hold the capers) which is served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection. All chat stopped at our table while we savored every last bite, not wanting it to end. And to top it all off ~ we got the Maple Crème Brule. Oh my goodness. This meal was magical! The entire staff takes such good care of guests so that water glasses are always filled, food arrives at the right temperature, plates are cleared quickly and you never feel like you have to flag anyone down for attention. We are locals and Jumpin' Jay's is our absolute favorite place in Portsmouth when we are feeling like having the perfect meal.
