My husband's last name IS "Bacalhau", doesn't get more Portuguese than that! We enjoy the bar side atmosphere or the outdoor tent on a cool afternoon with a pitcher of red(sangria that is) its unique With peach notes. People think "iron-bound" Newark is where you go for great Portuguese...that's fine with me, keep this gem on the DL so we can always get a table.
Everything is delicious so explore the menu but always start with the garlic shrimp it's unlike anyone else's. Come hungry they have rodizio (Picanha aka sirloin med-rare;one of my favs) ends with grilled cinnamon/pineapple. True story:My husband and BIL went head to head one night and the waitstaff + management thought they were boxing it to go(meat-pigs)lol, the rest of us thought they were going to need to be hospitalized. Never have I seen so much consumed at one meal...not even thanksgiving. Enjoy being in the know but only share it with your besties;) The rest of us want to keep wait times reasonably way under an hour.
