Rodgers Romance is a delightful evening of fine music, sung beautifully.
Add to that, a trivia contest about the origin of the songs.
Tons of fun.

What a special evening. The room was filled with wonderous songs performed by four outstanding young voices. We were transported back to a different time and place. He genius of words and the voices filled not only our ears but our souls.
Outstanding entertainment not to be missed

We went to see the opening of Rogers' Romance, a musical revue of the music of Richard Rodgers with Lorenz Hart as well as Oscar Hammerstein, II. We expected it to be a pleasant evening but nothing special. It turned out to be such a delightful evening we didn't want it to end. It an enjoyable and joyful celebration of the Great American Songbook of R&H and R&H. The young talented cast sings unmiked and really delivers such nuanced and heartfelt songs filled with feeling you want to just sing along...and the audience is encouraged to do so. Keep in mind this presentation is pure fun and joy, not stuffy and cliched. The four young performers were outstanding and worked the room to get maximum audience connection but not cutesy or fake, just sweet entertainment. We would see it again in an instant. Five Stars.

My husband and I began our recent winter holiday weekend in Cape May with a delightful performance of The Life and Times of Santa Claus at the East Lynne Theater. Gayle Stahlhuth's artful story-telling of L.Frank Baum's classic tale was mesmerizing. We look forward to including other East Lynne Theater productions in future visits to Cape May.

Each year East Lynne Theater Co. in Cape May wraps up its season with an all-American Christmas offering. Once again, East Lynne delivered the goods like no-one else can.

L. Frank Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus was adapted for the stage and performed by Gayle Stahlhuth. A delightful tale which tells the origins of Santa Claus. Having never read the story myself, there was no doubt that this was a creation of the same mind that produced Wizard of Oz. Filled with appearances of fairies, nymphs and other immortal and mythical creatures, it held the same wonder and magic so often experienced in the Oz stories!

What is interesting about East Lynne is that it is the only theater company in the country (perhaps the world) with the mission of preserving and presenting American stage classics. In the spirit of the company's mission, Gayle Stahlhuth presents Baum's Christmas tale in traditional story-telling format. . . but not without plenty of theatrical flair! In this one-woman stage adaptation, Stahlhuth performs some 30+ characters - each with his or her own distinct voice, facial traits and idiosyncrasies. This rapid "shifting of the gears" between her numerous characters remains crisp, colorful and engaging for the duration of the show.

On the night I attended, there were many children in the audience who seemed as captivated as I was.

The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus is a delightful and enriching theater experience for the entire family. I also feel this is the perfect show for a child or young adult who is being introduced to the world of theater for the first time.
