Barbaras is a family run place. Unlike others in the area you will not see a Sysco or any other delivery truck bring food to prepare. The owners shop each Monday for the meats
and all other food stuffs. Everything is made there including the strudel and crepes.
The portions are large and food delicious. The prices for the quality and quantity are great. We suggest you order a number of things and share is your not familiar with
Hungarian food. Spetzel is a must it is made from stretch and not from a box. The place is holds about 50 diners, is very clean and somewhat decorated. Ask them to turn on
the Hugarian Rose which is music streamed from Hungary. It ads to the experience of
the great home cooking.

Excellent, authentic Hungarian. I was transported to Hungary for dinner and will return on my next visit. A gem to have found.

This is small hideaway restaurant in a Ewing, NJ shopping center that doesn’t draw you in unless you know it’s there. This is an outstanding restaurant that provides that warm & inviting feeling. The food is terrific, as is the service. If you are looking for a restaurant on those cold nights then this is the place. I highly recommend this location, as it is one of the best.

I had the stuffed cabbage while my boyfriend had the pork cutlet and both came with a side spatzel. Hearty and delicious, cucumber salad on the side. Honestly, the house-made spatzel in the red gravy was my absolute favorite thing! Next time I'm planning on ordering the chicken paprikash. Since its a BYOB, we dined with our favorite beers that we brought in. Feels like your guests in someone's home. I'll definitely be going back.

My wife and I were in Hungary two months ago and a friend mentioned this restaurant as a place we should try. Glad we did. This is a great place for delicious, filling food, freshly prepared. We arrived for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Drinks (including water) are in bottles and cans. Lots of Hungarian food items to choose from on the menu: delicious, thinly sliced bread was served with the traditional cucumber salad. As we waited, I heard pounding sounds....I said to my wife “That is the sound of your freshly made chicken cutlet.”, and indeed, it was. Her entree came with peas and rice, and mushrooms in sour cream and paprika. Delicious. I ordered the pork with onions which was served over spaetzle. Also delicious. For dessert we had a sour cherry danish which was just OK. We will gladly return in the future!
