Based on Tripadvisor reviews and an advertising campaign for this newly opened restaurant, we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We arrived around 6:30 pm on a Sunday evening - a little worried that there might not be space for us, but it was relatively empty. We had just driven back from Newark and normally we would have headed to Masa Sushi in Lawrenceville, but we were a little later than usual and it is often hard to get a table at that time. Ichiban Sushi compares very favourably with Masa Sushi (dinner is around an insignificant $2 less). Both have made-to-order sushi and sashimi. Ichiban has a larger room with more tables than Masa, the latter's space is nicely divided and has greater ambience in our view. The former has 3 small private rooms, Foodwise, there was not a lot to distinguish them. The soft-shell crab roll (that I used to enjoy at Masa but has lately seemed to less crab in it) was better at Ichiban, but Masa has a ceviche dish - presumably off bits of fish left over from preparing sushi and sashimi) that are steeped in lemon juice that we always enjoy. My recommendation would be to go to the closest one. Both are good, both are BYOB.

I'm thrilled you decided to give us a try! Thank you for letting me know what parts of our menu and ambiance you enjoyed and what parts could still use a little work. Great choice with soft-shell crab roll -- that's one of my favorites. I hope you can join us for more sometime soon!

Until then,
Mike, Owner

We went here yesterday with friends. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is very friendly, but there is a bit of a language problem with a few of the servers. Any way, we finally got our orders placed, and the food was very good, from bento boxes to sushi and sashimi. Everyone was very satisfied, we will likely return here.

After hearing about Ichiban Sushi for some time our party of two decided we really had to try them out. We decided to try the All You Can Eat menu and could not have been more satisfied with the available selections and the quality of the food. After giving our completed checklist to our server and waiting for a reasonable period of time since everything is prepared to order, we were presented with an appealing platter of our perfectly prepared selections. Then instead of just saying that was great, we were able to give a new checklist to our server and do it again, this time with even more choices. After satisfying our need for great sashimi and sushi we opted to complete our meal with some simple desserts. Everyone must try this place.

I have dined twice at Ichiban recently with my wife. While she usually orders from the menu and has enjoyed her choices, I tend to go for the All You Can Eat option (I am a glutton). The choice is great and the food always comes well prepared and plated.
The sushi and sashimi always tastes fresh and the hot dishes are excellent too.

The AYCE option is very popular, so you're not alone! I'm glad both you and your wife always enjoy your sushi and sashimi. I hope you can both join us for more of the same (or something new) soon!

Thanks,

The newly opened all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Plainsboro is a nice surprise. Spacious interior with several booths available - big plus over the nearest competitor (Masa Sushi by Sam's Club on Route 1). And so are the prices; the weekdays are only $20.50 per person and the weekends are $22.95 pp.
The choices are plentiful, though not as abundant as in the area's similar sushi restaurants. However, there is tempura, and teriyaki, shumai, and gyoza, and several udons. We felt that Ramen and Kani salad would be great additions. The rolls, sushi, and sashimi choices are more than multiple. Everything tasted good and fresh. There are a few things that we haven't seen or tried at other sushi establishments, such as mango sushi. The squid salad was very good too.
Also, om Friday and Saturdays Ichiban stays open pretty late (that is for the greater Princeton area), till 11 PM. We came in rather late, around 10 PM and were served with everything on the menu.
Definitely recommended and we will definitely visit Ichiban again.

And we look forward to having you! I'm thrilled our atmosphere and prices help us stand out in your eyes -- along with the sushi itself, of course. Hope to see you for another meal soon (and we certainly don't mind if that meal is a late one)!

All the best,
Mike, Owner
