Interesting that some reviewers claim their room was clean, others the opposite. We checked into the room, after a big storm, and found the screened window wide open.... soaked carpet, bed and chair. Had to use a few towels to mop up. Smoke alarm chirping every 5 minutes first night so alerted management who removed it from the wall. It wasn't replaced. Towelbar completely missing from bathroom (brackets hanging off the wall) so no place to hang wet towels. My friend who has allergies had symptoms after the first night, and by the second morning was completely congested. Had to buy allergy medicine, but because the motel doesn't provide shampoo or conditioner (we asked) we had to go the store anyway.
Things like pink outdated bathroom tile, crooked moulding and even the half hanging draperies isn't a big deal. But moldy air, dirty carpet and tub is a big deal.
Covid has hit businesses hard and it's commendable that this motel is open, but a few small upgrades (like when the towel bar breaks, fix it before next guest arrives, buying travel size shampoo and conditioners in bulk and putting them in each bathroom, scrubbing bathroom floor and tub after each guest, cleaning the filter in the air conditioner AT LEAST ONCE or twice during summer....) isn't expensive and would make a big improvement to encourage repeat customers.
The location was great. 2 blocks to the beach and to downtown is so convenient you can leave your car parked the whole time.
