nice hotel, super friendly desk staff, decor is dated - mirrored lobby, for example - but not dirty or dingy in any way. There's a night club attached to it, but it's far away from the rooms so no noise can be heard. Room was great, clean comfortable, nice bathroom. Would definitely recommend...great deal for the price.

This is really an excellent hotel at an excellent value. As others note, it has real character. Part of the reason is that years ago this was a big, old sprawling Holiday Inn. But unlike some of these properties that were sold, this is kept in really nice condition. Wifi was EXCELLENT and they had a good continental breakfast. You'll be amazed when you drive up. This is not your typical small or seen-better-days Econolodge. There is an indoor pool taken over by a health club, that that will soon close. But who needs a pool if it's closed? It's located so well you can go to any number of stores, restaurants (or the Y if you really need a pool, for a small fee). I travel a lot and first did a double take when I saw it from the outside. Even the lobby...it's hard to believe its an Econolodge. They will eventually replace the box TVs in the room, and the TV selection isn't extensive, but as someone travels a lot let me tell you: this is REAL JEWEL and a GREAT value. Bravo for the owner and staff for taking such pride in trying to keep a beautiful old property looking good and not just slapping a chain name on it and not putting money into it. Note also: refurbishing is NOT something hotels can do overnight. It takes a lot of money and they clearly are doing it in stages. So I had a Holiday Inn quality room, Holiday Inn quality Wif, and great location. This hotel deserves to be visited by travelers due to the care they've put into keeping it nice.

I usually stay here twice a year while visiting the area. This is NOT your TOP NOTCH motel but it's clean & although it's a bit outdated, the front desk staff is very friendly. They do offer a free continental breakfast which consists of orange juice, Apple juice, water, Maxwell House coffee, Danishes, toast & bagels. Simple but not fancy! There is a fitness center as well as an indoor pool on site as well as a restaurant/ bar. The bar usually gets to going on the weekends with parties but there is a security guard patrolling. Diners, grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores are about 1 to 2 miles from here. The motel is right beside Route 287 South but once off that exit, STAY IN RIGHT LANE FOR A QUICK MOTEL ENTRANCE!!! It is a VERY busy road! Not far, too, from Rutgers University, Johnson & Johnson Park, St. Peter's Hospital & by NJ transit to New York from Edison, NJ ( 20min), the train takes 45 min to NY!!! Very convenient from the Stelton Ave train Station. Edison Diner is the best EVER!!!

Room Tip: I usually choose a king sized bpnon smoking room..Very comfortable bed!

This is a different sort of hotel, I enjoyed my stay and I do recommend it, but a little clarification before you choose this, or another place, to stay:
1. This place has real personality, it's not a cookie-cutter chain hotel. Some will appreciate the change from the ordinary; others, maybe not; even if the big chain might cost more per night.
2. It looks like this hotel was designed for late 1940's to early 1950's for Miami Beach FLA and then teleported and time-warped to current day central New Jersey. In some ways, it has aged gracefully, it's not as run-down as you might think; but neither is it new or up to date. While it's style is dated, and a little tacky, the owners have obviously made many attempts to maintain it, they appear to care, and it shows. However, today, remember that this is now an inexpensive hotel; carpets and other furnishings are of modest quality, not threadbare but not luxurious or brand new; expect or at least be open to a tiny bit of "charm" when you stay here. Note that many "discount" hotels are in MUCH worse shape than this hotel, and have ZERO charm!
3. Today, the word economy is right in the hotel's name; but it was probably once significantly upscale. It is not plush by today's standards, but there are a number of touches of faded luxury, like the large pool. When I was there, the pool was open from 6 am to 9:45 pm; but do verify pool hours for your stay. Yes, you can swim laps in this pool and they have towels available at the front desk. the pool has a non-rectangular shape which was probably the mark of an expensive hotel back in the day, but today, the shape of the pool seems a bit odd (but again, you can swim laps in it, so who cares?). Also, in the lobby, the chandelier probably cost a million bucks, back in the day. today, it looks of another era.
4. My room had a mini-sink, mini-stove, and min-fridge. The bed was OK, the room was quiet, I slept OK. The tv was an old CRT (Tube) TV... haven't seen one of these dinosaurs in a while... but really, I'd rather they spend their money on maintenance, rather than on TV's. WiFi was OK.
5. It looks like most of the rooms are on the first floor; they're all indoors (it's not a motel, just a very old design), so you may have a long walk to get to your room.
6. Bottom line: I thought this was a cool place to spend the night; a very good value; and with a mini-kitchen in the room, a very reasonable place to stay longer. It's not the fanciest place in town today (tho it might have been many years ago), but it has more personality than any other hotel I've seen in this area, in this price range. Unless one of the near-luxury chain-hotels is having a huge sale, it may be the best value in the area, too. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: some of the rooms may be a long walk from the front desk. Also, some of the rooms may seem "old" with the old-style TV's; but I actually found this sort of charming, not depressing. A good value, especially if you have your swimming suit(!!!) and I do recommend this place.

My family and I were in need of a place to stay for a few weeks between apartments. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The room was large and very clean. The cleaning staff was always helpfull and friendly. The front desk were always able to help with any issue we had. They also are pet friendly. . And had no issues with our dog being with us.
I would refer this hotel to anyone in the area who needs a safe/clean and friendly place to stay.
