Nice food, great terrace, friendly staff and the creative ones get to paint pots and vases. Great way to start a holiday. Highly recommended!

Clay Cafe has become one of our fav hangouts in Hout Bay. Whether you feel like being creative or just chill whilst the kids play, Clay Cafe has it all. Lovely staff, yummy food, awesome little shop, great play area and painting clay items - all amazing and make Clay Cafe an all-round winner.

I don't care how old you are, this is a fun way to spend the day!
There is a large selection of plain pottery to choose from which one then decorates oneself. There is a generous selection of colours, brushes and stencils. If you are really serious about your finish, I do suggest bringing your own brushes for any delicate drawing.
The restaurant serves healthy and wholesome food, besides burgers etc. And there is fresh vegetable and fruit juices besides tea, coffees and soft drinks too.

Clay Cafe is a fantastic spot to grab a delicious meal while unleashing your creative side in painting a piece of pottery selected from their shelves. I went with my husband (farmer - definitely not into painting and craft stuff) and my 20-year-old son - also not big into `that sort of thing'. I had my doubts as to whether they would enjoy spending several hours on this project, but they both got stuck in and thoroughly enjoyed themselves! My daughter, mom and I simply loved it!

A coffee shop with a difference. Actually a place where you can bring the kids and do some painting on clay objects. Reservation is essential for the inside seating area, but there is ample space outside, but it fills up very quickly. Large space for kiddies to play with trampoline, swing and small water feature. The service are good and if its your first time at painting, they waitrons give you a brief explanation.

A varied menu including kiddies meals, sadly not catering for halaal or kosher. Once your painting is completed, there is a three week wait for it to be baked and glazed before it will be ready for collection. A bummer for those from outside town.
