Lovely stop for a long beach walk early in the morning - the views at sunrise is spectacular and a great way to start the day!
Located @ Swartvlei beach before you get to Sedgefield and about a 3km walk there and back. Check the tides so that you catch it at low tide. Make sure you take shoes with for the little climb to the top since it has a lot of loose sand and rocks. Fantastic view from the top! Take swimming stuff with so that you can enjoy the best beach in the area!
The actual Point is cut off at high tide so CHECK what the tide is doing before you go and keep an eye on it. People have been trapped on there. Suggest you wear the relevant shoes for sharp rocks should you really want to walk all the way there. You also can fish from the rocks. But due to having to climb over sharp rocks (depending on the state of the tide) I don't think it is suitable for young children and the very elderly.
However before reaching the Point there is a beautiful long sandy beach which also stretches towards the lagoon. The Beach gently slopes into the sea making it pleasant to swim and snorkel or walk or just lie around and have fun with plenty of space to spread out. Sheer cliffs shelter the beach in places so it does not seem to get as windswept as some other beaches around.
There is a toilet block in the parking area .( State not checked)
Dogs are allowed subject to the normal rules for same - check the boards.
Go early as parking can fill up quickly.
this is good viewing point of the surrounding area in sedgefield with good overall views of the local forests and the vegetartion as it changes from forest to sea
Most awesome place ever. Swimming, snorkeling and fishing. Never miss going there when in the area. I've been going there since a teenager and have taken my children and grandchildren there and still is heaven on earth. 2kg walk from Swartflei beach in Sedgefield.
Make sure you check the tide before you go. The actual point is not accessible at high tide or spring tide
