Spent 3 days in Oberoi in Dec 16. Everything is top notch from the moment to step in.
Was greeted welcome drink and was shown our villa. Neat rooms and small things like providing bathroom slippers (small sized) for my 4 year old, and separate bathrobe for her were just like pleasant surprise. For that matter they supplied rubber ducks for kids to enjoy in bath, milk for small one in eve (complementary)...all these count and shows how much they care for the guests.
Villa had its own privacy and next to the beach, blissful!
I feel checkout should have been an experience as well, but I will discount that may be my odd hours of checkout did not let them offer best they could.

Only concern: Beach is very filthy and seems whole of bali bins the rubbish there.

Tips: Since Oberoi is bang in the buzzing place, unless you enjoy your meal in room, go out and explore local eateries and will be lot cheaper.

Room tip: All rooms are good, I will say ask for rooms/ villas closer to reception if you do not want too much of walk.

Dear kapilvarshney07,

Thank you for staying at The Oberoi during your recent trip to Bali.

I greatly appreciate you taking time to post a review on Trip Advisor forum about your experience of staying with us. The entire team here is committed to consistently providing warm, efficient and discrete service and your feedback is very important to us.

I am delighted to learn that you were mostly satisfied with the overall service provided by the team here, our room and its amenities as well as resort's location have met your expectations.

I appreciate your comment about beach condition in Bali. All beaches in Indonesia are public property and therefore difficult to control from a single hotel. The pollution of Indonesia’s beaches is indeed a problem and we are at the forefront of educating the community, lobbying the government and doing our best to keep up with the rubbish washing on to Bali’s beaches. We employ a full time cleanup crew to clean the beach every day. We will continue our efforts to educate, preserve and protect this beach.

If your travel plans bring you to any of the other Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, or you are able to re-visit The Oberoi, Bali, please do let me know. I would be delighted to offer you my personal services and attention with your arrangements.

Sincere regards,

John W. Halpin

We stayed at the Oberoi with our two teenage boys for 3 nights in December and wished our plan had been to stay longer. It was our first time in Bali and we couldn't have found a more idyllic haven to begin our holiday. It exemplifies old school comfort and luxury with impeccable service and great food. The location is perfect for shopping and eating out in Semiyak, but the property is peaceful and secluded so you feel removed from the bustle. it really is a gem

Room tip: We stayed in inter-leading garden view rooms which was perfect for the four of us

Enjoyed every bit of the amazing Hotel The Oberoi. We stayed for 2 nights from 5-7th Jan 2017. One of the most beautiful hotels with very peaceful and serene ambience. Great hospitality, delicious & great variety in veg breakfast, beautiful pool & a beautiful photo shoot (though if you want to purchase the entire shoot and pics it comes at a price), great location very near to the main street of Seminiyak which has numerous restaurants and shopping and also just next to Ku De Ta club which has one of the best locations and food too.

We visited the hotel between Christmas and New year. The hotel itself was excellent, the quality and service were fantastic. The Spa was excellent.
The Beach unfortunately was disgusting, there was a lot of plastic waste brought up by the sea. It was insufficiently cleaned up, so walking on the beach was unpleasant. The sea itself was brown in colour and smelled, I went in once and felt like being sick when I got out.
The wine at the hotel was prohibitively expensive. A glass of white wine started at approximately £13, bottles were close to £100. Also the food in the main restaurant was really not great, and very expensive.

Room tip: An Ocean View room is excellent

Dear saulG G,

Thank you for staying at The Oberoi during your recent trip to Bali.

We greatly appreciate you taking time to post a review on Trip Advisor forum and we are delighted that your stay with us was relaxing.

Myself and my team are delighted to note that you were satisfied with some aspects of your experience at The Oberoi, Bali.

On the contrary, I am sorry to note that the beach has fallen below your expectations. All beaches in Indonesia are public property and therefore difficult to control from a single hotel. The pollution of Indonesia's beaches is indeed a problem and we are at the forefront of educating the community and cleaning beaches on this island.
At the beach in front of The Oberoi, Bali, we employ a full time cleanup crew to clean the beach every day. We will continue our efforts to educate, preserve and protect the beach.

We appreciate your comments regarding the pricing of alcoholic beverages here. Unfortunately, Indonesian government places extremely high tariffs on legal alcoholic beverages imports which vary from 140% to 600%, excluding selling taxes on these beverages. Understandably, this leaves the hotel guests, tourists and hospitality industry upset and frustrated with wines and other beverages available legally have extremely high prices. We regret the prices being charged on alcoholic beverages due to these exorbitant legal excise taxes. But at the same time, we do try and be mindful of the prices and conduct a survey every month with hotels in the same category as The Oberoi, Bali to ensure our prices are aligned with other five star resorts in Bali.

We thank you once again for sharing your feedback. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to The Oberoi, Bali once again.

In a world overrun with so many high rise hotel developments, it is a rare pleasure to be able to stay in a luxury hotel modeled on traditional Balinese architecture. While the Oberoi is not a new hotel, it is beautifully maintained and the staff are superlative - gracious and nothing is too much trouble. The food at their restaurant - Kura Kura is delicious, and if shopping is your bag, then the hotel's central location will also be a bonus. It's location on a black sand beach is glamorous from a distance, but with the luxury of so many great and clean beaches in Australia, I wouldn't bother with the beach here.

Room tip: Rooms with ocean or partial ocean views get a great breeze on very warm days.
