Compared to other SW restaurants we've been to, this one just doesn't cut it!
Very disappointing especially after reading the reviews and getting our hopes up!

This restaurant is not a real mexican food place, it is a new mexican food restaurant so they should not advertise it as mexican restaurant....

We thought we'd try this based on Yelp reviews and we were glad we did! The prices were good and the food was delicious. We met the owner while we were there and he said it's all home made...including chili rellenos! The beans and rice are normally not that great in a Mexican restaurant, but we ate every morsel here! The restaurant is located in a strip mall so it's easy to miss...keep an eye out for it. Beers were a few dollars...good deal!

When our first choice, Gennaro's, was closed (they close at 7:30) we tried this place and were not disappointed. We had the smothered steaks, which were cooked perfectly. And the price was a great value. Loved the green sauce especially. Another plus, they have the best freshest Tecate beer. Everything was tasty and service was fast and friendly.

I agree with another reviewer that the chips were not as light and crispy as some, but to be honest, I haven't found any restaurant that delivers the fresh chips we love in Mexico.

The competition for best Mexican food in this town is tough, and the bar is high, but if this restaurant was in my hometown, the lines would be around the block.

I went to Cocina a few times while in Gallup for work. It never disappointing. The Sopapila was awesome and very filling (the smaller portion is plenty!) My favorite was the navajo taco. Ingredients seemed very fresh. Its relatively nice inside and has pretty good drinks also. Service was friendly and never had to wait.
