The positives
- Great service
- Extremely polite game show companions. They go the extra yard to make you feel that your money is well spent (given you will most likely spend a bomb in comparison to other sanpark lodges). Our ranger was Marnos and was a really nice guy.
-Private game experience will vary for people. Mine was extremely fulfilling. Got to see the lions/lionesses, giraffe, cheetah up close.
- Rooms were spacious and well decorated with a balcony. We got to see a group of elephants from there itself.
- Good food. The chef went out of the way to prepare something specially for us as we are vegetarians.

Negatives
- Only the price. But i guess that can be tackled by choosing the right season and booking in advance

Had a great time

Room Tip: I believe most rooms look out into the reserve and therefore offer a good view of the wild life.

It would be great to have the on site ecologists share information about the animals. The walking safari seems like a great opportunity to do that. We were delighted to see all of the animals on drives.

Spontane Safari..... Arrived the local airport, first in line the representative from Kapama with a great service. Nice 20 min ride threw the park before arriving at the lodge. Smooth and warm welcome and intro to the amazing Kapama Karula facility. All and above our expectations, luxury, style, well maintained and a very good mix of impressions. Great "all inclusive", good quality food and drinks. Safari was more than we hoped for.....all BIG 5 withinn av few tours - amazing ! Defenetly a plase to visit again.

We checked in on the 10th and got a warm welcome at hoedspruit airport. After check in to our spa suites we were amazed at the beautiful room and interiors. We had Caspaz as out attendant for all our meals and his service surpassed all standards. He was perfect host and made our stay very memorable.
Unfortunately our ranger Alex was terrible. He drove very roughly at our safari rides and was very impatient. On our second safari he kept arguing very loudly with our tracker for half an hour. We had an excellent tracker but unfortunately Alex messed our safari totally. He is very unhappy and it shows. Even when we were at dinner he would throw his napkin on my side plate and get up. Had absolutely no sense of dining manners. Completely clueless on dining etiquette. Overall safari drives with him was absolute waste of time. Wish we had another ranger. Also the third day we shifted to southern camp and he was driving us. The way he drove made me nauseous and his excuse was I have to rush to airport for pick up. I don't think we paid so much Money to listen to Alex crib. The only thing that made our drive pleasant was our interaction with our tracker. Please don't overwork your rangers as it shows poorly in their conduct. Our experience in southern camp was wonderful. Truly felt lovely and the spa experience was out of this world. Overall it was a pleasant trip except for The safari drives.

About 1min from East Gate Airport in Hoedspruit. The infrastructure is impecable. The hotel is very well rustic style decorated, charming and gives you the local African feeling. There is a public pool and a second one at the spa, but you need to take a massage to access it. The rooms are very comfortable and large, and it has a bathtub facing the savanna. Friendly staff and very nice service at all times. Great food, specially breakfast. Awesome game drives, very well prepared rangers and a lot of animals, despite the fact that the reserve is all fenced and isn't connected to Kruger Park. We saw no cheetahs and leopards at Kapama (saw all of them inside Kruger Park) but all the others many times. Kapama River Lodge is an excellent choice, but I strongly recommend that you diversify your experience and stay for a few days in a rest camp or lodge inside the Kruger Park.
