Spent 4 days with my wife at Motswari for our Wedding Anniversary. Just arriving we were received by a warthog at the entrance, by that time you it should start getting into you that fact that you are in the wilderness.
Rooms are great and spacious with everything you need. Food and customer service are amazing, cooks sing while bringing the food everyday which gives it an additional special feeling. Safaris are organized perfectly, small groups, comfortable cars and our guides Kevin and Eric did everything they could so that we could experience animals in their nature (highlights:Herd of Elephants having a mud bath, baby rhino being taking care by his mom).
We left this place feeling we have changed, it just gives you a different perspective of the word and how much we should take care of it.

This was our 8th visit to Motswari , which tells its own story. We stayed for 7 nights.
It was as lovely as ever, in spite of some changes. The welcome was slightly less professional and rather rushed. We were disappointed not to have been in the room we requested and to have had no response to our e mails. However the room we had was very pleasant, and kept beautifully clean.
The waiting, bar and catering staff are amazing and really make sure that your every need is met with friendliness and efficiency. Food was lovely and served in a variety of locations.
The game drives were always exciting and the guides and trackers worked hard to ensure that we saw a wide variety of wildlife. Our guide was Angie, who was great fun and very professional. She and Petro, our tracker made every drive a real adventure and made sure that everyone had maximum sightings.
We were very lucky to have many elephants visit the camp during a couple of the days that we were there. And also one lunchtime we were surprised to see a leopard in the tree opposite the veranda. She had hoisted a kill in the tree and we were able to have game viewing from the bar for a couple of days.
There is a bit of a difference in the atmosphere of the camp than in the past as the management and reception staff no longer come and chat to guests during lunch time or pre dinner drinks, checking up that all is ok. However the guides and other staff were always helpful.
I think our only real complaint was that there was no bug spray (Doom) in your room. There was insect repellent to put on us, but nothing to spray the bathroom with before bed, when multiple mosquitoes had built up. We asked for spray, but they only sent someone to do it during dinner. We felt bad that this person had had to make an escorted trip to our room and back that we didn't like to ask again. Every other lodge we have stayed in has provided this as standard.
We had the most wonderful stay out in the Giraffes Nest. This is a small room on stilts, out in the bush, in front of a water hole, with a roof that rolls back so that it is open to the stars. We were amazed at how well equipped it was, with a small bathroom, toilet, shower (cold water) and towels. There was a gas burner to heat water for washing or to boil water for tea or coffee. A 3 course meal was provided, along with a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks, nibbles and breakfast muffins. There are seats to view the water hole and a really lovely comfy bed. It was a memorable night, listening to the sounds of the bush, waiting for animals to come and drink and watching the sun rise. It was quite expensive but well worth it.

This was our second safari but our first to Motswari and in the Kruger area. It certainly did not disappoint. We arrived by plane onto the lodge's private airstrip which was a fantastic experience in itself and were met by Kevin (our field guide for our stay) and Eric (our tracker). Our rondel was beautifully furnished and had a lovely view across the plain which meant we could see whatever decided to walk past (including elephants and giraffe's) all very close up. The camp is open so you never knew what you might find when you walked to and from the dinning area and pool but we never felt unsafe. We were escorted whenever it was dark and told lots of stories or given updates on what animals had passed through the camp, we even had a leopard come through one night which then decided to stay within a few hundred metres of the lodges the following morning giving us an excellent sighting.
Kevin and Eric were a fantastic pairing, we saw so much (including the big five) in our 5 night stay including seeing things we had not seen before, and the knowledge of our two friends up front was overwhelming.
We wish everyone at Motswari all the best and look forward to returning one day.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were extremely happy with everything.

Our room was well appointed with all mod cons, together with a private terrace to view the wildlife in camp - a frog on the fuse box, hornbills up close and kudu on the way back from lunch! Add to this the major sighting of a leopard just across from where we had lunch and you will see that this is a special kind of safari.

All the staff were very helpful, from our excellent guide, Shandri - who could not have been more kind and knowledgeable, and Jacky, our very experienced tracker, who made sure we got the kind of animal sightings we had dreamed about - rhinos (including one on foot during a coffee break!), elephants (including a day-old calf and a 50-year-old male), hyenas (including a nursing mother with 2 cubs), hippos (1 with a baby), giraffe, zebra, antelope, and many birds, including vultures, eagles and owls. We were blown away by the variety of wildlife in this reserve. I also really appreciated the tick-box book provided to record all the animals and birds seen.

The food provided for our full board was excellent - I am vegetarian and prefer gluten-free bread, etc,. and the manager made sure this was provided for all my meals. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, making for a very relaxed atmosphere.

All-in-all, I would heartily recommend this reserve for anyone who wants to have a rewarding safari.

We stayed at the Motswari Lodge in November for three nights as part of our honeymoon. We can honestly say that it was by far the highlight of our trip. Everything about this place is absolutely incredible.
We stayed in the Roan which was beautiful, made even more amazing as a heard of Elephants strolled by in search of water whilst out on our balcony.
All the staff were amazing, Prince was definitely one we will remember, he couldn’t do enough for any of the guests, he was brilliant as were all the staff at the lodge.
The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was perfect.
Our game drives were with Brad and Jacky and we were made to feel so welcome and the knowledge they both have was unbelievable. We managed to see the big 5 and had such an amazing time.

We did the Giraffes nest during our stay and it is great, if you can I would suggest doing this, great experience.

I would definitely recommend Motswari, you will not be disappointed. It has been by far the best experience of our lives, Thanks to the team at Motswari for making it memorable.
