Clean, yes. Nice staff yes. Bed, yes. Ok. It worked. But it also worked for the whole assortment of construction workers who came in after me. Loud...VERY. It was like staying in a dorm. I was so grateful when then went to bed at 9pm. But then...5AM! Tromp trop tromp and they idled their trucks for nearly half an hour, right out side my room.
I am sure the owner needs the business but wish they would park the trucks elsewhere and maybe be told that there are other guests?
The Algonkin is a 60's style motel providing simple but clean rooms at a good price. There are not a lot of amenities, but if you're looking for a good night's sleep without spending a fortune, this is a great place to stop. The owners are very personable and welcoming, and I'll be sure to stop here on my next visit to the area.
During a recent vacation, we had a car breakdown and were stranded in Bainbridge, NY for 3 days. We found this motel through locals, and we booked a room. The motel is older, but the accommodations were clean and adequate. What really impressed me was the staff. Since we were stranded with no transportation, the staff was very understanding and helpful. Jennifer was a big help and the owner was very flexible and understanding of our situation. The motel is about 2 miles from town, but there are restaurants within walking distance. Thank you to Algonkin for making our emergency stay a pleasant one.
Our friends and I have been coming to Brainbridge for about 6 years for the Bowling tournament.. and we always stay at the Algonkin!! We have never experienced anything other than nice friendly people that run the place!! The rooms are clean, always clean! They are very accommodating!! The rooms have been updated since we started coming here!! Really nice and for the price you can’t beat it!! I hate seeing reviews where people are calling this place a dump!! It’s not!! These people work hard at keeping this place clean and comfortable!! We love it here!!
This was a different kind of place. It was okay and it was about the only place we could find to sleep. We went downtown to eat and found a tavern that served dinner. We enjoyed talking to the locals but a football game was on. Well we are from New Hampshire sooo we are big Patriot fans and we were in New York and they were not. But the food was good and we all had a good time. The motel was nothing special at all but we did get to sleep. There were at least four trains that went by in the night.
