Style of hotel: Victorian, Downstairs has Bar, Parlor and Pretty Breakfast dining! Porch with rocking chairs. Beautiful View of Lake from Porch.
BUT the Bedroom was severely out dated! Wall paper peeling off walls, no air conditioner (however aware of this at booking, but expected we could open a window) and it appeared dirty! Cost for 1 night $179.
The owners cannot be hands on owners, they have to do walk though of their rooms.. do they not see the Rusty sink? ( found right in bedrooms), we could not barely get hands under. I saw a review were a person posted his sink, which was actually worse than ours. The Toilet was in with shower! Drain was in middle of floor in some kind of cement gray painted floor. Had a Rusty shower head complete with cobwebs. (we opted not to shower). I honestly have never seen a toilet/shower room like this in my life. Sorry but one expects charm with a room, as we have stayed at other Victorian Hotels. This bathroom certainly wasn't found in the era, it was unbelievable, like a camp outdoor shower but w a toilet in with it.
We had Twin beds, without fitted sheets but 2 hospital type flat sheets. My bed was obviously remade! Sheets had hair on them. Requested new sheets and again got flat sheets. We came on a Saturday night, and our room was over the porch, Loud Obnoxious (drunk) people on porch to all hours, we could not sleep, and had to shut the window. 95 degrees and only a fan on. Could not wait to leave that room!
The Staff was friendly and the free breakfast very good but we would never stay again. These owners have to renovate rooms badly. Going back in time does not mean you make guests suffer. Loose a couple of rooms on each floor and redo the bed rooms with nice bathrooms. People I know would pay extra which would make up the difference. I know other rooms are even more expensive, and heard other people complaining on shape of their rooms while standing in lobby.
Housekeeping has to pay attention to detail, (no hair on my sheets or cobwebs in room)
We ourselves have a condo we rent and Housekeeping /Updates are number one! Also our community has a noise ordinance at 10 PM so all guests can enjoy their stay. There was not any staff to handle the amount of noise coming from the porch with no consideration for the guests staying there.
Recommend visiting the parlor or stop in for breakfast, but be prepared if you want to stay overnight. I hope this helps other travelers.

Room Tip: do not get room over porch, obnoxious people on porch all hours, no sleep !

Was there today for breakfast. Food is great and service getting better from last time. When attempting to pay we knew they only take cash. We asked where t6hr atm was. We were told there wasn't one. We had to walk to the corner bar or market. So we had to pay $5 to withdrawal at the atm. We were told we could go home and mail a check. Really?!?! Who does that?? Lets put all the inconvenience on our customera so we dont have to pay taxes!!! I will NEVER go back!!

Charming, friendly and a beautiful location. I understand trying to keep the charm but needs some updating.
The bathroom sinks leak, and the toilets have trouble flushing. The sheets on the bed were stained, which leaves a bad impression.
That being said,, the room was comfortable even without air conditioning.
Service in the hotel was very friendly. Breakfast was great, and service from Molly was exceptional.

The best thing about our stay was the breakfast. It was included in the $168 price. Food was very good. 64 steps to our room. No air conditioning. They provided box fans which were very dusty. Stained & un-swept carpet. Cobwebs and 2 live spiders. Wallpaper peeling. Rusty, dripping faucet. One outlet in the whole room. We did at least have our own bathroom. They had painted the bottom part of the shower (dark gray/black) and that was peeling off. Unfitted bottom sheet which kept coming un-tucked. Old is one thing, dirty is entirely another. We would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Not sure there would be a good one.

The staff here is so nice and welcoming. The rooms are nothing to write home about but you must remember this place has been in operation for 139 years! Anyway, the room was clean and, with the window fan, quite comfortable. I think the most memorable thing is the 'all-you-can-eat' breakfast served to your table! It's very good too.
Lastly, the rocking chairs on the front porch provide a really nice place to converse with friends while enjoying a nice breeze off the lake.

Room Tip: The front of the place tends to be a bit noisy.
