There's no question that the amount of snow and snow conditions are excellent at Osceola Tug Hill. We had about 1-2 ft base with about 6-10 in of fresh snow in late December.
However, when you have perfect snow conditions and it's a weekend, you would expect the trails would be groomed and tracked. The owners had only groomed half of their trails seemingly a few days prior to the weekend which we thought was inexcusable.
It is our understanding that this XC ski center is owned and operated by 2 people who dedicate their time during business hours to sales inside the ski lodge/main building. Perhaps if they recruited an additional staffer or volunteer they could dedicate more to trail maintenance. Plenty of effort is put into retailing ski equipment of which they have an extensive store with hundreds of new skis, shoes, poles, etc.
The ski lodge/main building leaves more to be desired. With the number of years this facility has operated we feel they could have made improvements in the way their facility looks.
For better trail maintenance and facilities we would recommend going to Highland Forest as long as they have snow.
