Perfect location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Sept 2021
Room was clean and owners were friendly. You couldn't ask for a better location for visiting the HOF, shopping and restaurants. Everything is practically right outside the door. Everything else is just a short drive away. However, the motel had very few amenities (not even a box of tissues, drinking glasses or even a lobby) so bring your own stuff. Fair warning, our bed was very noisy and the walls seem thin. That being said, I would definitely recommend this place.

It has all been said by others in their reviews so I will just say that all the positive reviews are spot-on. This place is 100 feet from the front door of the HOF. The owner also owns the shop below and you get a 10% discount off everything you purchase there.

Within walking distance of many fine eateries and bars. Baseball shops galore all around. This is an old building so the walls are thin. We had a two-night stay and it was mostly quiet until someone walked in the hall but not bad at all. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Not a big fan of the fluorescent lights in the ceiling, but the other lights in the room were the normal soft yellow color.

I'm already looking forward to staying here again next year if it's available.

Room tip: I had a room in the front and didn't notice any street noise.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend anniversary getaway. This place is only a shortstop-to-first (maybe even second-to-first) throw away from the Hall of Fame. It's right on Main Street, and you can walk pretty much everywhere within the village!

The motel is nothing special -- it's no-frills, and occupies a couple of floors directly above the F.R. Woods House of Pro-Sports souvenir store. (Note: the store -- which is one of my favorites on Main Street -- also doubles as the motel office, so check-in times depend on store hours; go into the store to check in for your stay. Also, if you stay at the motel, anything you buy in the store is 10% off!) The ladies who run the store/motel are very nice and wonderful to talk to.

That said, there were a couple of things I didn't like. First, the bed was rock-hard. I didn't sleep well because of it, and I woke up sore each morning. Second, the walls are paper-thin; however, other guests were quiet and courteous, so it was rarely an issue.

Cooperstown is one of my favorite places to visit (I've been here about a dozen times), and in general, I did enjoy my stay. If the mattress could be improved, I'd enjoy it even more!

Room tip: Guest-only parking is behind the gift shop. Access parking from Otsego Ct. off Pioneer St, next to Cooley's Tavern.

You will be just steps away from the museum if you stay at the Baseball Town Motel. My two fellow retirees have been staying here for quite a few Induction Weekends. The rooms are nice and roomy, the two ladies that run the motel couldn't be more accommodating if they were forced to be. Room 7 has a view of Main Street and they also provide free parking in the back of building which is a bonus.

This is an affordable hotel right next door to the Baseball Hall of Fame and within a two or three block walk of nearly every shop and restaurant in this quaint and charming village. The big advantage is the free parking behind the building because Cooperstown is parking space limited during the busy high season and having a place to park is a premium plus. Rooms are located on the second and third floors of an historic building probably dating back the mid to late 1800's. The place has been renovated with all the modern conveniences - lots of electrical outlets, modern and useful furniture, updated bathroom, microwave and mid-size refrigerator, comfortable bed(s), flat screen TV, heater/AC works, and good lighting. Free WiFi is not secure and can be slow if many are on it. This is a walk-up, no elevator. Not a problem for us and we are both around 70! Rooms are well maintained and clean. The operator also runs the FR Woods store on the first level. As a hotel guest, you get a 10% discount on any purchases in the store. The Post Office is across the street. No cheap unappealing complementary breakfast which is OK as I would recommend the Doubleday Cafe, Cooperstown Cafe or Stagecoach Coffee for breakfast (real food) all within a block of the hotel. Yes, there are more elegant lodgings in town but they are much more expensive. This place is not fancy but practical. Any of the inexpensive national chain motels are way outside of town requiring a drive to get to the village. Staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Room tip: Rooms 6 & 7 overlook Main Street. Big suites are Rooms 8, 9 and 10.

I stayed here for a few days while visiting the baseball hall of fame. It was a pretty simple place. The bathroom was very small but worked. There was an issue with the AC leaking and they fixed it in a timely manner. The ladies that run the place were very friendly. The location could not have been better. This is the place to stay if you want to walk about town.
