Great view, 30 min drive from Buffalo, good food, and affordable rooms if not small in converted monastery .Great for entertainment and owner are both actively involved. Good wine selection but only one local NY wine.

The property and location are fantastic, SunCliff on the Lake offers beautiful views!

Based on a recommendation, my wife and I met friends for dinner and we were all disappointed. The menu is limited and food was average at best--hard to believe a 'chef' would serve canned vegetables. SunCliff could be so much better, but will require a great deal of work to make that a reality.

I would not recommend or try again.

The property and building was awesome...it was everything our family was looking for for an overnight stay...they were fully accommodating for our road trip through. They even got a fire started for us to enjoy the night at under the stars and lake erie with buffalo, NY in the backdrop. The morning breakfast was nothing special but totally feed our needs to get started that day. Thx to the Suncliff hosts and staff.

This place was recommended to us by a friend. We were told it was a ‘castle in derby’ that she went to for dinner, she really liked it, something to see, we should go! Well, eager to try something new, we went with a group of people for a birthday celebration to try it out.
First of all it is NOT a castle at all, more like an old mansion turned into a Bed & Breakfast. It is on the lake, with beautiful views of the city, so the location is awesome. But it could be so much better.
The day we went was so windy & chilly, we went to see the water, but not for long. The grounds were unkept, and in need of a lot of loving care.
The mansion itself was the same. Very old and in much need of care, repairs, upkeep, and regular maintenance.
They do have a beautiful veranda/patio with outdoor seating, but due to the weather we decided to have dinner inside. We were given a room all to ourselves which was perfect for our large party.
The menu is very limited and it was difficult finding something for everyone. However, everyone was very pleased with their dinner, our service was good, and prices reasonable.
They have a bar which we enjoyed. Our entire group had a very good time.
It looks like they host events, weddings, etc. however with all of it in much need of repairs, I would not recommend it for that.
Perhaps if they put some money into it, this could become an event destination for the future.

Such a lovely experience! We were the only guests (due to the fact that they no longer host on Sundays) but they still pampered us. They gave us the best room, made us a bonfire, and breakfast. We loved laying in the hammock, playing yard games, watching the amazing sunset, and sleeping in one of the best beds I’ve ever slept in. All for under $100 a night!
