From the moment we arrived Yiannis made us feel at home, a warm welcome and continued hospitality was in abundance throughout our stay. Villa Elena I'd ideally located and has a well equipped kitchen and is very well laid out to cater for a large group or family. There is a quiet spot for everyone to escape to and many communal areas when socialising. The outside dining area with its clay oven was the highlight for us, we made use of the free firewood and cooking advice. The pool is an adequate size where sun or shade can be found depending on your preference. The local shops has everything you require for home cooking but equally the local Tavernas are affordable and offer good food. Would recommend Taverna Eleven for its location, quality and price.

Excellent service – Owners are delightful and warm and friendly.
Fantastic huge property in rural location surrounded by beautifully kept garden and olive groves. One could not want or wish for any more nor fault anything.
We had a warm welcome with the most delicious stuffed vegetables dish cooked in the outside oven and a delicious pudding made from home grown oranges. I must add that being a vegetarian this was the best food I had during my whole stay in Crete.
Quickly unwound finding that it easy to get into relaxed starts to the day around the pool, followed by exploring the delightful nearby area - its close to the beautiful old towns of Rethymon (about 10 minute drive), and Chania, where there are many restaurants, bars and taverns. Whilst the nearest village is walkable (taverns and mini supermarket), a car is essential.

We stayed at Villa Elena in late August 2014 with my sister and her family. There was plenty of space for 4 adults and children aged 13, 8, 6 and 4. The villa has everything you'd need and more - swimming pool, young children's pool, sun loungers, well equipped kitchen, barbecue area, wifi, huge tv, DVD, air con bedrooms etc. The family that own the villa were very welcoming and really made us feel special. You'll need a car because the nearest shops and eating tavernas are 2 km away, but the plus side is that you get a massive villa in a peaceful location and with a car you can explore the wonderful island of Crete and the great selection of tavernas and restaurants nearby. We hired a Corsa from Athens Cars for about 540 Euros. We ate out most nights and all experiences were good - I'd particularly recommend Taverna Eleven and Taverna Zizi's. We really enjoyed Crete (1st time we'd been there). The children said it was the best holiday ever and I'd very strongly recommend Crete and the beautiful Villa Elena.

We were a family of 8 and found the beautiful villa spacious and very well equipped. The pool was fabulous and we spent a lot of time there. Yiannis and his family were excellent hosts and couldn't have been more helpful. A car is essential to get around. There is lots to do around Rethimnon and the beaches at Bali and Panormo we're great.
We highly recommend this villa for a quiet, relaxing holiday in a lovely setting and we hope to come back here soon.
