I do not normally write reviews but my experience at the Hampton Ocean Resort was more than I could have asked for in a small beach front hotel. Being from South Florida we normally visit large hotels & get very average service. This is not at all what happened at this resort. From the moment we got there, when a man came out to the road to flag us down because our navigation system got us lost to the moment we left and the staff helped us to the car with directions to get us to our next destination, it was a pleasure.
It is also not always easy to visit small hotels with children. I have a 2 year old daughter & the staff did everything possible to make her experience enjoyable. They brought her ices on the beach, had BBQ's, and Bon Fires. And to go above and beyond, my daughter likes fresh fruit before bed & they had it for her ever night!
The cottages were spacious and very clean (including the playpen they provided for her to sleep). This was so important for me considering my daughter touches everything on & off the floor. In addition, we saw a few ants from food we left out on the counter, & they brought us earth friendly bug spray because I am crazy not to contaminate my family.
The staff was knowledgeable about local events for my husband and me to have romantic evenings and they knew of family friendly outings for the whole family.
I can not say enough good things about our experience at the Hampton Ocean Resort!!

It was my husband 's birthday the day we arrived, August 23rd. i almost died upon entering the room/suite. It was so small, terribly furnished, etc. i couldn't even stay in the room , I walked the beach and then sat in the "lobby" if that is what it is called. I had my Ipad and read over the cancellation policy and felt betryed. I then read the amenities again and line by line which was totally false and misleading. Large sitting room, NOT, full size refrig, NOT taken out replaced with a wine cooleer and they never finished the back with the "CARRERA marble. No sheets for the pullout bed for the kids, the girl who brought us to the room, opened the door and left. The maid, who said it was her last day there, told us about the property.
While I was sitting in the "lobby" the woman from the room next to me came in and said her hand towel in the bathroom was dirty, the shower didn't drain and the outlet to blowdry her hair didn't work. She was paying $499.00 per night and I had booked online at $399.00 per night. Needless to say she was furious. I waited for almost 45 minutes till the manager woman came back from the store and told her we were leaving and wanted a prompt refund. She was very nice and explained the cancellation policy over agian and I pointed out the false and milsleading items in their advertisemeent and said I would contact an attorney upon my return if i wasn't refunded. She said i completely understand, called the owner who was only willing to give 50% back but then decided to credit the whole stay.
I think comparing to the Econolodge is justified.

I don't even know where to begin.....my boyfriend and I are native Long Islanders and were planning a weekend away out East. We researched hotels and came across the website for Hampton Ocean Resort. Firstly, this website is completely misleading as is the review listed by Long Island exchange. The rooms started at $500/night, and although we weren't expecting a Four Seasons quality hotel (realizing that Hampton rates are typically somewhat inflated), but what we encountered was not worthy of $200/night.
When we arrived, it was difficult to even find staff to direct us to our room, let alone help us with our bags. The entire staff was composed of high school and college students, most of which did not exhibit experience with basic customer service. The room was no way near a "deluxe suite". Not sure how they came up with this title. The "renovations" that they brag about in their website consisted of sloppy cosmetic changes. The curtain rods were falling out of the walls and all of the curtains were hung up backwards. The old refrigerator wouldn't close properly, thus contributing to mold accumulating on the fresh fruit we brought.
The "snacks" that they mention consist of miniature Nerd packets and a potpourri of old Halloween candy. I mean really.....$500/night to $1500/night.....give me a break. How could the owners even rationalize such a price!
The couch and sheets had stains of unknown origin. The continental breakfast was served on a dollar store fold out table. When I asked for sweetner for my coffee, I was told that they "ran out and may get some in the next day". Along the same lines....the beach chairs were rusted and clearly have been used through several seasons. They had several new lounge chairs that arrived that day that the 17 year old staff member was putting together in the courtyard. I asked him if he wouldn't mind bringing them out to the beach when he was done, b/c the chairs we were sitting on were rusted and didn't work. He responded by saying, "I'm not sure there will be enough left b/c The Boss is coming today with 5 of his friends and these are for them".
REally??? So much for customer service!
I honestly can go on and on.....don't get me wrong, this hotel would be fine if they didn't charge $500-$1500/night and falsely advertise 4-star quality renovations and service. If I had to compare this hotel to another, I would have to rate it with an Econo Lodge or Motel 6.....but at least those hotels don't have the nerve to over charge their guests just because of their location.
Please save your $....or......drastically lower your expectations.
