My husband and I chose Geneva on the Lake to celebrate our 28th anniversary. The property is lovely and we chose to walk the grounds before dinner. The inn was originally a monastery. The back gardens, pool, and lakefront area are all lovely. The dining room is much smaller than anticipated. The tables are quite close together. I do recommend going as the sun is setting because the dining room is candlelit and very romantic. We sat in a small room with several other couples. We enjoyed the live pianist but were glad we were one room away. Our server was wonderful and made us feel comfortable from the start of our meal. They served us complementary champagne because it was our anniversary. It seemed as if all the couples were also celebrating their anniversaries. We chose the 4 courses with wine pairing. They served a crudités plate which was fresh and delicious. The carrot ginger soup was outstanding. For our appetizer, we both ordered the shrimp cocktail. Fabulous! For the entree, I had the lobster with a sweet butter sauce. My husband selected the duck with a ginger orange glaze. The entrees were perfect. For dessert, we had a lemon cheese cake and orange-vanilla panna cotta. The wines that were paired with our courses were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was very expensive ($240 with tax and tip) but for a special occasion, I highly recommend this restaurant!

The room, service and wines were great. The dinner itself was very good but it is expensive and at those prices just a little off the mark. As long was you are not expecting Paris quality dinners, you will enjoy the atmosphere, service and tasty dishes.

My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner on what started out as a quiet Sunday evening. I say quiet because just after we placed our order a family of five came in with a screaming child that drowned out the piano player. Rather than taking the child outside to calm down they were content with sitting there and ruining all the other patron's experiences. Obviously this was not the restaurants fault, just doing a little venting.

The ambiance and views at the restaurant were ideal if you are looking for a romantic dinner for two. Open doors out to the back garden over looking the lake are truly serene. The pianist had some beautiful takes on a number of classics which only served to boost the experience. The food was good, not outstanding which is what I was expecting given the price ($40/entree). We were up from NYC so we are used to paying a bit more but the pricing seemed out of place given the quantity and quality you can get at cheaper places in the area.

All told it was a nice experience but you are really paying for the ambiance and setting rather than the food.

Ate here several times while staying in the hotel. Like the hotel, it imagines itself to be much more than it is. It produces very good food with mediocre service in a staid and formal atmosphere at a huge price.

However, having spent a week looking for a decent place to eat in the Finger Lakes region, the food is better than anything else I tried. The wait staff are friendly and trying, but are still just kids waiting tables. And I'm much more comfortable in a less formal atmosphere.

Had the special four course meal with the wine pairings; was just wonderful. The potato soup was tasty, but I would have liked it hotter. The spinach salad had wonderfully flavorful mushrooms that were toasted and mixed with a bacon dressing. The steak was perfectly cooked and had outstanding flavor. The steak came with green beans and mashed potatoes. Oddly enough, the mashed potatoes were better than most baked potatoes and the green beans were nice and crunchy and flavorful. Yummy, I had cheesecake for dessert; a beautiful ending to this meal.
