We were seeing a concert at the Proctors Theater in Schenectady and were not about to pay a Kings ransom to stay at the hotel right next door. Stayed at another hotel last year and the walls were thin, so did NOT go back to that place this time around.
Got on the Choice Hotels website and looked for a property within a reasonable distance from Schenectady.
This Comfort Inn is adjacent to exit 23 of the NY State Thruway, and I mean literally on the highway. You get off the exit, go 1/2 mile South, and the hotel is adjacent to the highway.
The first room they gave me was on the Thruway side, so I did not want to risk not sleeping from tractor trailers whizzing by my window. They were nice enough to change it to the 9W side, NOT the Thruway side.
So, the even numbered rooms face 9W and the odd numbered rooms face the Thruway.
Since I did NOT stay on the Thruway side, it would not be fair of me to say whether there was too much road noise or not.
I fell asleep immediately after watching some TV, so I guess road noise from 9W was not a factor for me.
This place is in the middle of nowhere , so if you are looking for restaurants and entertainment, this is NOT the place.
Albany is not far away, so staying here is certainly reasonable if you want to go to a busier area.
There is a Gulf station across the road, and it has a nice mini-mart in it.

This hotel suited my needs I suppose.
My room was on the smallish side, so this place is nothing fancy.
The 2 people at check in were pleasant.
The breakfast room was pretty large with the standard breakfast fare.
The breakfast room attendant was a friendly sort.

I imagine I would stay here again, there is nothing about this hotel that particularly bothered me, but I imagine I would insist on a room on the 9W side.
If you can't sleep due to road noise, what good is the hotel?

Room tip: ask for an even numbered room

Such great service and amenities for a low cost price! I booked this hotel because it is near Albany Medical College, where I had an interview early the next morning. I arrived late in the night because I was coming from another interview on Long Island and was quickly checked in by the front desk worker (his nametag read Baltazar I think? but I remember him telling me his friends call him something different). He helped me by giving me a list of taxi companies that I could call to reserve a taxi for the next morning so I could get to my interview on time, and was overall very kind and welcoming, which was so refreshing after a full day of traveling. The room itself was beautifully laid out - I appreciate the soft AND firm pillows on the bed and very clean room. I would definitely stay here again!

We arrived around supper time and thought was would just get something from the hotel restaurant and take it back to our room after a long drive, but what a mistake, MacDonald would have been a better choice the salad was disgusting and the pizza was loaded with onions although it wasn't suppose to have onion and was dipping and greasy. We took a couple of bite and left the rest. The hotel stay was friendly and the room comfortable, so good for a good nights sleep, just would not recommend the restaurant at all.

Overall your basic CI. Clean, quiet, restaurant on site open in evening. Gentleman that checked me in was extremely polite and helpful. Room did have a very strong odor of cleaning chemical. Put the AC on to help eliminate the smell. Breakfast was free and good to start the day. Nothing bad to say about the CI Glenmont. I would recommend this hotel if in the Albany area.

Stayed here two separate times over this weekend....rooms are clean and comfortable. We used Expedia for one reservation, and the hotel coupon book for the other...both rates well below rack rate...breakfast was what you expect....wifi works well...we have never had a bad stay here, even when it was under renovation. This is a very decent hotel for the money.
