We were seeing a concert at the Proctors Theater in Schenectady and were not about to pay a Kings ransom to stay at the hotel right next door. Stayed at another hotel last year and the walls were thin, so did NOT go back to that place this time around.
Got on the Choice Hotels website and looked for a property within a reasonable distance from Schenectady.
This Comfort Inn is adjacent to exit 23 of the NY State Thruway, and I mean literally on the highway. You get off the exit, go 1/2 mile South, and the hotel is adjacent to the highway.
The first room they gave me was on the Thruway side, so I did not want to risk not sleeping from tractor trailers whizzing by my window. They were nice enough to change it to the 9W side, NOT the Thruway side.
So, the even numbered rooms face 9W and the odd numbered rooms face the Thruway.
Since I did NOT stay on the Thruway side, it would not be fair of me to say whether there was too much road noise or not.
I fell asleep immediately after watching some TV, so I guess road noise from 9W was not a factor for me.
This place is in the middle of nowhere , so if you are looking for restaurants and entertainment, this is NOT the place.
Albany is not far away, so staying here is certainly reasonable if you want to go to a busier area.
There is a Gulf station across the road, and it has a nice mini-mart in it.
This hotel suited my needs I suppose.
My room was on the smallish side, so this place is nothing fancy.
The 2 people at check in were pleasant.
The breakfast room was pretty large with the standard breakfast fare.
The breakfast room attendant was a friendly sort.
I imagine I would stay here again, there is nothing about this hotel that particularly bothered me, but I imagine I would insist on a room on the 9W side.
If you can't sleep due to road noise, what good is the hotel?
