Wonderful college shop right on the edge of campus. Loved their bagel sandwich and great coffee. Great menu and huge variety of bagel and sandwich items.

CTB is an Ithacan classic. The atmosphere is chill and very fun. It's great for breakfast and also for drinks on the patio.

No one wants to be average. Yet a "very good" rating carries some responsibility for me. Kudos for a friendly staff (on East Hill), an enormous variety of choices for breakfast or lunch, very decent coffee tried black, and what looked like some very nice artisanal breads.

But we had lox and bagels for breakfast. We are only 225 miles from NYC, but the bagels were closer relations to English muffins than true bagels. One thin slice of salmon (query whether it was Nova? served on a too thick layer of cream cheese reminded me that we are in Mid-America not a traditional ethnic deli.

Frankly, it was fine-if you have never had a real bagel or eaten in a real delicatessen. For those who have, it's not the real thing. Perhaps, I am carping on the point, but if you have bagel in your name, that is the most important element.

Since this business has been around since 1976, has 5 branches, and managed to revive the old Ithaca Bakery, they appear to be doing a lot of things right. Clearly, the local community is supportive. I would give them another try. The semi-cafeteria format, where you order, pay, and your food is brought to your table is consistent with the informality of the place and probably is the most efficient way to serve lots of people more or less quickly.

This is a very popular place to grab a sandwich or a smoothie. I have never been when there wasn't a long line.
