We are a mixed British/Bosnian Croatian couple and have been coming to Brela for years, it is a stunning location, very quiet even in mid Season, we thought we'd come down for a relaxing long weekend a month before the season starts, it was a bit of a mistake for several reasons.
None of the shops, Cafes and Restaurants were open apart from 1 restaurant and 1 cafe, our favourite restaurant The Feral was unfortunately going through refurbishment. Brela is too quiet this time of year, the Hotel was busy at meal times, mainly German coach parties.
We've been coming to Soline for years, however we were extremely disappointed with the room this time, it appears they have recently refurbished the rooms and bizarrely they have added a large window in the toilet on the bedroom side! there are blinds but fully they do not fully close, it may be romantic for couples on their own but surely no one likes to watch their other half sitting on the toilet! a really strange refurbishment to be honest, added to this the bathroom doors have been changed to sliding doors that do not close correctly either! the room itself is comfortable enough and with Great near sea views, you have a good sized television, balcony area, mini-bar (the majority of Europeans like to have tea and coffee making equipment in the room, the Soline does not provide this!
Our son was really looking forward to the swimming pool, we spent all of 5 minutes in there before having to retire to the room, the architecture of the pool provides for an awkward entry to the water, the sides are curved so you need to go in from one of the ladders, my Son went to go down one of these but it was a bit shaky and he ended up falling and crashing against the side on his chest, he was in pain for the remainder of the night, they should sort this out prior to the season!
On a positive side, the Soline is in the Best location in Brela, the beach is a few metres from the Hotel entrance, the whole area is shaded by beautiful trees, the food (Breakfast and Evening Meal that we had) were outstanding, a great selection and Great value for money!
The Soline's STaff are the best point of the Hotel, to a person they are very helpful, polite and professional, the rooms are cleaned to a high standard, Thank You to All the Very Kind, Pleasant Staff and we will Visit again, this time though in the Summer Season and NOT either side of it when nothing is open.
Please amend the ridiculous bathrooms i.e. the Voyeurs Only Bathroom Window! what is the point of that?! and the dangerous pool edge and ladders.
