I can make this really simple: stay here.

For those who need more convincing: Maplestone manages to strike the perfect balance in countless ways. The inn itself is immaculate and pristine yet warm and inviting. The food is beautifully and artfully presented, tasty and interesting yet simple, broadly appealing and decidedly un-fussy. Sean and Patty are the consummate hosts, friendly and personable yet not overly so. With every detail so thoroughly attended to, it has to take considerable energy and effort to pull it off, yet it all feels so relaxed and effortless. It's truly the quintessential B&B experience and I honestly can't imagine any guest leaving Maplestone without feeling considerably better than when they arrived. What more could there be?

Like I said: stay here.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong. Honestly

Sean and Patty were amazing hosts! It was raining the night we showed up and they were there waiting by the car with an umbrella. To say their home and grounds were beautiful is an understatement. We stayed in the Hunter room on the main floor. The room was lovely and offered a warm and relaxed atmosphere. We had a choice of when to have our three course breakfast and they also brought a basket of coffee and tea to our door so we can relax in our room before breakfast. The food was delicious! My husband and I look forward to a return trip.

Patty and Sean couldn't have been better hosts. The rooms were absolutely lovely (I stayed in "Hunter" on the ground floor). My room was spacious, nicely decorated and exceedingly comfortable. Good reading chair, terrific king-sized bed with more than enough pillows for lounging. Also blessed with beautiful weather so I had the sliding glass doors open to the porch many times. Take advantage of the "coffee basket" delivery to your door so you can enjoy your first jolt in private before you dress and move along to the dining area for the real show. Coffee and a novel in an Adirondack chair overlooking the grounds was quite the reasonable way to start my day. The three-course breakfasts were notable both mornings. Sean and Patty were exactly chatty enough -- made sure we had what we needed, advised us on our plans, encouraged us to feel at home, and left us to our own devices. Should I find my way to New Paltz again, I will certainly stay at the Maplestone.

Room Tip: The Hunter on the first floor was quite roomy, quiet and had access to a porch and patio through french doors in the room.

From the minute we contacted Sean and Patty, we knew we made the right choice! They were incredibly helpful via email in preparing for our stay, including accommodating our specific dietary needs. We arrived later than expected on our first night, and they couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming. Both mornings they created an incredibly relaxing atmosphere for us with a crackling fire, NY Times, and soothing music, not to mention the amazingly delicious 3-course breakfast! We happened to be the only guests for the weekend - which we understand is rare - but felt blessed to have the place to ourselves! Saturday night, Sean built us a fire in the living room, where we sat and enjoyed movies. Sean and Patty were the perfect hosts, making sure our needs were met while making themselves scarce so we felt like we were in a romantic getaway. They have decorated the entire place with perfect detail, keeping the historic charm with a feeling of coziness. We are already planning another trip to New Paltz to stay at Maplestone Inn again!

Room Tip: We loved the Jenkins room, very romantic feel.

We loved our stay at the Maplestone Inn. Hosts Sean and Patty were warm and inviting. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. We stayed in the Tucker Room, enjoyed the soaking tub and gas fire stove.

On our second day we encountered an ice storm so we returned to the hotel earlier than planned. Our hosts could not have been more gracious, laying a fire for us in the living room where we read novels and watched football. For dinner we ordered in food from a local restaurant using a delivery service that Sean suggested. Spending the afternoon in front of the fire made for a cozy and delightful way to spend a winters afternoon and evening. We will definitely be back
