Our first reaction when seeing this hotel is that the ocean view and pools were beautiful. The room was nothing special. The location and hotel grew on us. It was quiet, spacious, clean, everything worked. There were no outlets in the bedroom but one of the hotel crew brought me an extension cord. We had a sitting area-tv didnt work but we weren't there to watch TV.

This hotel is about 20 minutes outside of town with a free shuttle from the hotel to town. The shuttle also dropped us off at the airport upon our departure. We stayed at this hotel as it was the only one available during carnival. We were actually in town for business. The biggest downfall was the lack of internet in the rooms. Most people probably would not be staying here on business, however it was a challenge. The reception area had good internet coverage. Staff was extremely friendly.

Lunch at the snack bar was slow and average. I waited 30 minutes for a bottle of water which never came. The ickiest thing was the wild cats roaming around the restaurant areas. My husband is extremely allergic to cats and it was not nice. If we had breakfast inside it was fine as the cats dont go into the restaurant. Also, at night there is a pack of dogs outside the hotel which barked, but I think that is pretty typical Cape Verde.

The balcony overlooking the ocean was lovely and the stars at night exquisite. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Room tip: Our room had a couch in an extra sitting room which was nice, with ocean view from balcony.

We have just left this resort for a hotel in town. The flies are unbearable. This is not a minor problem. You cannot open the patio doors without filling your room with flies. You cannot sit by the pool, sit in the snack bar where there is good wifi or enjoy the restaurant, where the haven't opened the doors or ventilated for weeks.

We were really unhappy during our two day stay. You will have 40 flies on you anywhere you go.

The resort is very pleasant with several pools and clean and tidy sunbathing areas. The staff we found a bit surly, maybe it was the flies as other reviews talk about friendly staff. We were also treated to two members of staff arguing all through our breakfast on the second day. Breakfast is nice.

The restaurant is so hot and stuffy we felt ill and tried to spend as little time there as possible. On our first day we had a very pleasant simple lunch, very pleased. We returned for dinner to a dinner menu. My main course was not as ordered, I was told it came with salad and fries but it arrived as boiled potatoes and vegetables, mostly boiled white cabbage. Ok not a problem but the cooked flies were rather distracting. My partner had a rice and duck dish with cooked flies too. We left quickly as the heat was making me dizzy, even taking our part drunk bottle of wine with us. No one seemed to think this odd.

The rooms are very clean and pleasant, the bathrooms too. This was handy as I spent a lot of the first night being violently sick down the toilet. I did not expect to see all that cabbage again so soon. My previous two meals had been in the restaurant but of course I cannot be certain what caused my food poisoning.

Overall, don't visit in October. This was not the restfull resort stay we had hoped for. We were told there was a lot of rain two weeks ago so the flies had arrived and this happens every October for all of October. The flies were not in Mindelo so either the location or some other issue causes the fly problem.

I stayed last week at the hotel, for 6 days.
When arriving they gave us a small room without terrace, and there was a wall facing the window.
As it was late at night, we slept there, but next morning we went to reception to complain, as those were not the hotel pictures I had seen on booking.com.
After talking with diferent people at reception during the whole day, they told us that that was the room we had booked.
On the booking that room appeared as superior, and the rooms that faced the sea, they told us that were the ones described as standard with views.
They agreed that maybe the descriptions on booking were not enough accurate , but that we paid for a room facing a wall. And if we wanted to channge we had to pay 14€ per night.
We finally paid, because Superior rooms were like being on a coffin.
On the other hand, they use the hotel as the public pool of Mindelo. They allow people from the town, yo use the pool and bar premises, paying 7€ fee, what means that the pools get crowded with famiilies that spend the whole day there, and there are everyday more than 100 people (most of them kids) bathing , shoouting, diving...
We could not rest by the pool a single day
That wasn't our idea of a relaxing holiday on a resort, and I had never faced anything like that before in any resort all over the world.
I complained at reception, and they told me that that they never had complaints... You can find another one on this trip advisor page from the previous week...
Also the dive club complains as for them is very hard to give PADI courses on the pool with 50 kids jumping all over the divers...
I also placed a claim on their web page and I did not get an answer yet.
Another bad experience was when my husband felt sick one night. He had diarrea and I went to the restaurant to order some rice for him and some dinner for me, in order to take it to our room. They told me that no problem, but when it was ready, they prepared a tour Eiffel with all the plates, put them on a tray, and gave it to me. they told me that there was no room service, and that I had to carry it on my own, and it weighted more than 6 kg!! No one helped me to bring our dinner to the room which was pretty far from the restaurant.
On the room terrace, there are no hammocks hanging, as you can see on the pictures... only a table and two chairs. So if you wanna lay without pools noise... you have to lay inside.Needless to say that there was only internet around the top pool... so we could only connect late at night, when all the people was gone-
It's a pity becauuse the hotel is clean and beautiful, and the beach in front amazing... though a bit dangerous because of big waves and currents.
Fod at the restaurant was good, but they have a big ventilation problem, even there are fans an AC, it's not enough. It looks like the heating and the AC were working at the same time.
Also when leaving, they wanted to charge us some room fees that we had already payed in advance.. So as you can see, our stay day was not very satisfactory.
And as a last note, there is a bus that takes you to Mindelo almost every our The bus driver that drove during the morning was the most disgusting person I ever met. . I probably hates his job, and you really notice it. Not even a hello when getting in, even I spooke portuguese with him...
So, this is what you will face, at least during Augost, when local people are on hoolidays and invade the resort ( I imagne that during the weekends they do so also)
There is no other resort on the island, except Goa hotel, which is located in Calhao, though is located on a remote area, about 20 min by car from Mindelo.
It's a pity, because the island has amazing beaches, Bahia das Gatas is astonishing. We went there and it was completly empty we did not a see a single person for hours, but you need to rent a car. .

Hotel is very convenient from the airport. It is just the right distance from Mindelo town centre to avoid being bothered on the beach.

Rooms are well cleaned and reception staff helpful and friendly. Grounds well maintained. Waiting staff could have been friendlier. You felt you were more of a nuisance than customer.

Room tip: I think there is supposed to be wifi in the rooms but it never worked whilst I was there.

Did not stay here, but ate at the restaurant after spending some time on the beach. Service was good and food was tasty. Staff was really friendly when we asked if we could leave our suitcases with their reception for a few hours before heading to the airport.
