I can't say enough good things about the owners. They were amazing. Very, very friendly and helpful. First of all you are greeted by the owner's son, who picked us up from the airport, completely free of charge, volunteered to carry our luggage, and even drove us back to the airport. VERY important: My daughter forgot her Raybans in the mini van and he came back to the airport to give them to her!!!! Don't take something like that for granted in this time and age (of financial crisis).
The owner himself was also very friendly, giving us along with his daughter very useful information on where to go (even had a friend, fellow hotel owner, who gave us a ride to Imerovigli for free). Plus, he makes (like actually makes, all by himself) some delicious dessert wine which apparently can only be found in Santorini and is offered to you for free when you arrive at the apartments. Also, offered free coffee and tea in the morning, for those of you who like such things. Again, this is Santorini where everything is sooooo expensive.
Not these apartments though! We were very lucky to find this place, last minute, and at a good price. For me it's very important that everything looked relatively new, unlike several other places there (which I hear smelt of mold). The design of the bed can fool you, but it's not old, just a bit old fashioned I guess. However, it was very comfortable and the place was clean.
I guess the main disadvantage is the noise IF you stay in the apartments facing the front, like we did. I had mistakenly assumed that because it's not right in the center you wouldn't be able to hear the noise, but apparently it's on the main road leaving from the center of Fira, so everyone passes from there (one way street). First night it was a real problem, but maybe because it was Wednesday more people would go out? Thursday for some really weird reason there wasn't that much traffic. I'd definitely ask for a room at the back.
A big thank you to the owners :)
