We were very lucky with this trip. It was my wife’s birthday and we got this tour to celebrate. We were the first tour of the year out and the weather was amazing although the sea was pretty cold. Because we were the first trip of the year there weren’t many people on Santorini so we were treated to a private tour of the Caldera. The tour is very interesting and the captain told us all about the history of the area. He made us feel very welcome onboard and kept us well looked after with constant wine, beer and snacks. The boat is beautiful and would comfortably fit ten people.

The sunset tour included visiting the hot spring for a swim which was amazing. Swimming from the very cold sea up into the hot water was a real experience. We finished with a delicious dinner. The food is fantastic and as good as you’ll get in most restaurants on land. We finished with a wonderful view of the sunset before returning to Oia.

I highly recommend this trip. It was great value (€125 per person) and it takes in everything you could want from a Santorini sailing trip; great views, wonderful hospitality and a top sailing experience.

We had a beautiful sunset cruise last on the Aegean Sea with Santorini-Sail Cruises coming out of the port of Oia. The 51' yacht carried 10 of us last night....there were four of us from the states, two from Australia, two from Germany, and two from Egypt. The ship was set up perfectly for small groups up to 12, with cushions and seating throughout the ship which allowed for an amazingly relaxing time. The captain and staff were very friendly and made the experience all about the the people they had on board. We sailed around the second largest caldera on earth (second only to Yellowstone but this one is submerged below the sea). There was an eruption here 3,500 years ago that pretty much wiped out the island and caused tidal waves that virtually wiped out the Minoan civilization 70 miles to the South. Some scholars believe that this island is part of the legendary lost continent of Atlantis which supposedly slipped under the water during the disaster.
We stopped at different spots in the caldera during our cruise to swim and relax, never feeling rushed by the crew to move on. THere was always plenty of beer, wine, and other drinks, along with snacks, to be had while we were cruising. In the middle of the caldera are two small islands that are part of the volcano creeping up from the seabed and steadily growing each year. We stopped at one of the islands to swim up a river that goes a short distance into the island....the water coming out of the river was a beautiful 98 degrees :). While we were all swimming, the Captain and crew made an unbelievable Greek dinner for all of us.
The evening was capped off by watching the sun go down and we headed back to port. Everyone was exhausted by the time we got back.
Santorini-Sail Cruises is a top notch outfit that provides pick up and drop off service from you hotel so all you have to do is just show up and the rest is done for you. If you ever find yourself in Santorini, I suggest you take the cruise...you wont be dissapointed.
SOrry I didn't take more pics...I put my phone away and decided to enjoy the family time :)

Four to five hour sail around caldera with Captain Cosmas was a highlight of our visit to Oia. He is friendly and informative, the boat is beautiful and well-maintained, and lunch and wine provided were well beyond expectations. Stopped for snorkeling and a swim at the hot spring. Small group (we were 6 total) allowed us to make our own schedule. View from the water provides a wholly different perspective of the caldera.
