We've been coming here for a few days each summer for years. We've decided we need to stay longer next year. Comfortable, peaceful and friendly. Lots to do in the Finger Lakes region, even if you aren't wine drinkers.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Silver Strand this past weekend, as we were in the area for a family wedding. We could have not been more delighted, or more comfortable. It's a beautiful old house, impeccably kept and perfectly clean. Our room (#4) was lovely, with a view of Cayuga Lake from our spacious balcony. The breakfasts were delicious -- fresh, fresh fruit salad, a special egg dish each day, homemade pastry or cake, etc. Absolutely perfect. There are many wonderful common areas for reading, watching TV, and eating (including a dining room AND a wrap-around outdoor deck, all beautifully appointed), plus a large deck with lounge chairs over the water for sitting and relaxing, and swimming is possible. The proprietor is a sweetheart, and clearly takes great pride in Silver Strand. Boat tours are also available. I highly recommend Silver Strand.
Had booked this stay as a combination 25 year Anniversary and wife's birthday stay. Because we had a limited amount of time available we didn't think we would be able to find a bed and breakfast as we only had 1 night open but they had a opening for Friday night which we took. We were welcomed with a sign on the porch when we arrived and the Inn was beautiful with old dark wide floor planks and winding staircase up to our room. The room was decorated with a sea side motif and the balcony looked out at the lake with a breathtaking view.
We were able to sit on the dock in the evening and catch a spectacular sunset with No Bugs! The owners were wonderful with input on dinner opportunities and the breakfast the next morning was absolutely wonderful. The only downside was that we only stayed 1 night but we will definitely be back again!
This was my first bed and breakfast and the experience was terrific! Maura made gourmet delicious breakfast each morning. She was happy to talk about the area and suggest places to go and things to do. The room was comfortable. Each room had a private balcony.
We definitely recommend this bed and breakfast!!
Maura makes truly an amazing breakfast. Not only do you not what to skip it, but we found ourselves just dying to know what she was going to make the next day. It is a perfect location on the lake, so peaceful and quiet. Would highly recommend this for long weekend of relaxation.
August was a rough month for us, and we almost considered canceling our plans for our 2-day stay at Silver Strand. Are we ever glad we did not! The Silver Strand was the PERFECT spot to relax and unwind. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Maura who is friendly, gracious and extremely helpful. I could sense right away we were going to have a wonderful experience. The Silver Strand's location is rural, picturesque, and so convenient for visiting several wineries (The Sheldrake is less than 1/2 mile away.) Situated almost at water's edge, the spacious dock with comfortable seating is available for guests' use. We stayed in the Carribean Room, which is very spacious and CLEAN! The tropical decor, which could have been kitcschy, was instead bright, cheerful with a touch of whimsy. We liked it! A highlight for us was the cozy covered porch overlooking Cayuga Lake, just large enough for 2 comfy lounge chairs and small table for wine glasses. The bed mattress was heavenly, better than ours at home! What was especially nice was we could open up the windows and let fresh air waft in...so nice! Maura made delicious breakfasts both mornings and the weather was perfect for sitting and eating at one of the tables on the veranda. I especially appreciated the beautiful and tasteful decor. It's a lovely place and we will be back! One thing I might note: we neglected to notice on the website that there is no tv in the rooms. (There is a large TV in the living room for guests.) However, it wasn't an issue, as the free wifi meant Netflix viewing...yea! Maura, thank you so much for everything!
