We enjoyed walking in this area,. It was very calming and relaxing. The grounds were kept clean and paths were available to choose the perfect walk.

“A beautiful treasure”
Reviewed 22 January 2012

All manner of outdoor enjoyment awaits the guest who discover this manicured natural oasis. Jog, skate, golf, xc-ski, lounge, and marvel at the foresight of past grandeur. Oh, and yeah there is a world class performing arts center as well.

“This park has something for everyone!”
Reviewed 18 January 2012

We are frequent visitors to Spa State Park where we like to gather spring water (fresh, not mineral water!) and walk the dog, but it has so many attractions that I would be surprised to hear that someone couldn't find something that appeals to them. Now that is is cold enough, there is a free skating rink in the field near the golf course. You must bring your own skates to enjoy this offering. If there is snow, you may wish to join the snowshoers, cross county skiers and sledders enjoying the park. I understand that the Gideon Putnam Hotel rents snowshoes if you need them.

I would recommend a walk up the stream from the main restrooms in the park. This trail has new signage, which informs visitors about the interesting geyser, springs and mineral deposits that they will see along the way. You might want to taste some of the mineral water that helped to make Saratoga Springs famous as you start your walk up the stream. Also at the mineral spring, you might look for a tube there that has no water coming from it (I think that it is turned up). If you take a sniff, you'll have an experience that will clear your sinuses. This was a must-do for our son each time we came to the park when he was a young teen. (I only needed to try it once!) The trail follows the stream for a short while and ends at a newly installed flight of stairs. If you are up to climbing them, take the upper route back to where you started. Otherwise, just retrace your steps.

In fairer weather, you might also be interested in picnicking, fishing, playing on the playground, golfing, playing tennis, tasting water from the many mineral springs here (6 that I can think of right now), or swimming in one of the two pools.

Also located in the park are the Automobile Museum, Saratoga Performing Art Center (SPAC), The Gideon Putnam Hotel, The Spa Little Theater, and Roosevelt mineral baths. See? Something for everyone!

Tip: If the gates are closed to traffic or you don't want to pay the entrance fee, there is plenty of free parking available before the gates and you may walk in without cost. Also, if you wish to enter with your car for under 20 minutes, tell the gate attendant that you just want to get some water in the park. They will give you a free pass which will allow you up to 20 minutes and that you will need to return to the same attendant as you leave.

“Very nice park outside Saratoga”
Reviewed 12 January 2012

I frequent the park several times a week for a variety of activities. The park is always clean and well kept. There is a 18 hole golf course that is very nice and a 9-hole executive course as well. Course is easy to walk and decent rates. Can be played by any level of golfer. A walking trail goes around the park/course that can be used for walking/running/bike etc.

Across the street is the dog off-leash park. THe dog park is great and gives dog's a chance to run and play in open areas. The area is not fenced, so don't bring if your dog may run away. There is a short walking trail also to bring your dog on; people there are friendly and dog's love playing with each other.

SPAC theater is a fantastic venue for concerts in the summer time is also in the park.

Overall a fantastic asset to the Saratoga area with a little something for everyone.
