This Hotel is excellent, just a few tips , when you get there on a Sunday don’t do the buffet as this is expensive if your looking for a quick snack . Drinks are up with London prices . Definitely don’t go to the supermarket 7/10 they are a rip off 500 MRup for two ice creams . Turn right at the traffic lights and walk down there , their is a big supermarket there . Also a bit furthe along is a South African bar / restaurant, best stake is there . The next best is the pineapple restaurant but you need to book this one . We were on a B&B which was great . Hotel is great and will be staying again

Dear Mutleyrose,

Thank you for your review.

My team and I are glad to learn that you had a nice time with us and found the resort great.

We have also well noted your remark regarding the buffet and wish to inform you that we are a 5 star hotel and our prices are in line with the other hotels of the same category in Mauritius. If , during your vacation you choose to eat in the restaurants nearby, we are happy for in doing so, you have given the chance to all to benefit from the industry.

However, we hope that during your next visit you will experience our 6 restaurants. Our chefs will be more than happy to make you discover their culinary skills.

Looking forward to welcoming you back among us soon.

Kind regards,

We recently stayed for 10 nights. The break didn't get off to a great start. We were shown to our room (Tropical Junior Suite) which had a really strong damp, musty smell from the air conditioner. We decided to give it a night and see if it improved, but it was really unpleasant. We went to reception and asked for a repair person and were just told dismissively that someone would take a look. We were not updated on whether anything was done or when the repair man would come, so we weren't sure when to go out etc. A day or so later we complained again, and again were told something would be done but no further information. We felt quite let down considering how much we were paying. We had already lost a day of our holiday due to flight delays because of the UK snow and the hotel had said it wouldn't refund us for that night (fair enough). The day after that we had a major problem - dark brown water started coming out of the bathroom taps even after we ran them for a while. We went to reception for a 3rd time and managed to speak to a guest manager who was more helpful and offered us an alternative room, explaining that there had been building works which caused the water problem, as well as a complementary dinner. The new room was much better and we were happier without the horrible damp smell, though there were still issues with the air con in the new room as it was dripping and causing lots of condensation. It was a hassle having to change rooms as well.

On the first night we ate at the buffet. Very worryingly, we were waiting for some grilled chicken which was being cooked in front of us. But we saw the chef use tongs to put raw chicken on one side of the grill then immediately use the same tongs to take off the cooked chicken from the other side of the grill and dish it up for customers! When we declined the chicken and tried to say why we didn't want it, he didn't really seem to understand the issue around using the same utensils for raw and cooked meat. Unfortunately as this was the first night it made us feel a bit cautious about what we ate for the rest of the trip. We tried the Indian restaurant which was excellent - really good food and lovely staff who went the extra mile - the best service we experienced in the hotel.

The hotel is very nicely designed with very well kept gardens with lots of tropical flowers. There is plenty of security on the beach so it feels safe. The design of bungalows around separate pools was nice so it never felt too crowded. We enjoyed the live entertainment in the evening, though I had a very unpleasant mojito which I wouldn't recommend. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice - particularly the staff cooking pancakes to order. Overall some really lovely aspects to the resort, but they need to make some big improvements - it's not acceptable to give guests rooms that stink of damp and mildew in a luxury resort.

Firstly I would personally like to thank Carina for her amazing service and tolerance with a fussy room customer!
Secondly thanks to Satish who looked after those on the beach. The fresh off the tree coconut was very special.
The staff at Trou aux Biches exceed expectations and their tolerance for the rowdy characters is commendable.
Great hotel and a foot step away from an amazing golf course.

We love these breakfasts at La Caravelle. The breakfast chef Nav came personally and explained food prepared and specialities presented such as coconut jam, eggs with marlin sauce, Safran sauce, and tomato creole sauce. Tasted amazing. Staff is really attentive, but the best was to meet Navin personally who is responsible for what is offered at this fantastic resort. Thanks, we will come again. Sandro, the entertainment manager is remarkable in sourcing top entertainment, especially at La Caravelle. Elisabeth and Cyril

Room Tip: beach front excellent, but back rooms also great. Enjoy stroll to the beach through the gardens, birds singing and beautiful landscape

Dear Hotel and the Team!

We would like to thank you for the wonderful week we spent in your hotel! It was one of the best holiday in our life and the best anniversary I ever had! Thank you very much for your kind hospitality!

First of all I would like to mention the property itself. We rented the villa for our big family of six: four kids and two adults. The villa is designed perfectly right! There is good separation between children part and master bedroom. So everybody can have a perfect rest!
Two part of villa connected with living room and very nice kitchen. Large fridge, microwave and oven are in place if you would like to make a snack.

The private pool is right size and surrounded by very nice garden with the trees and flowers. It creates very cozy and awesome atmosphere.

Second, I would like to mention our butler - Mr. Baurun (Mr. Bu). He is really professional butler who spent almost 27 years working in this hotel!!! Amazing!! He put all his efforts to make our holidays great! He was very much attentive to his guests and especially to our children. My daughters loved him very much!
Every morning we had a wonderful breakfast made by Mr. Bu at our choice and preferences. Usually there are any kind of omelette, ham, sausages, juices, coffee, croissants and many other delicious food. The table was always served nice and beautiful! Great job, Mr Bo!

Third, worth to mention is the electric car (buggy) service. It is always available in a few minutes notice. The hotel area itself are large and this service makes your stay there much comfortable.

Also it is important to mention that there four restaurants in the hotel: Thai, Indian, Mediterranean and French. We visited all this restaurants. All restaurants serve very good food! It was always unexpectedly delicious! Thank you to Mr. Ricardo, the manager F&B, for your hospitality!

However, I would like specifically mention very special person Mrs. Reene! She is a manager, responsible for villa’s guests. Our family had one minor issue during our stay and Mrs Reene personally managed this situation in a very very professional level! Highest standard of communication and problem solving! Thank you very much Mrs Reene for your personal touch and professionalism! You made our stay so wonderful that whole our family so grateful to you and your team! The hotel should be proud of such managers who make their duty at highest level and provide 5 star problem solving and service! Thank you so much, Mrs. Reene!!!

The beach at the hotel is very nice and long! The additional services at boat House are also provided at no additional cost! We would like to thank Mr. Frederick, who was so kind to our kids and helpful providing the boat services for us.

Forget to mention the barbecue service in the villa. It was great!!! The table is served like some kind of special event, the person cooked at barbecue place deep in the garden behind the pool, the butler is at your service till the end, the choice of meat, chicken and fish is very broad and very delicious! Very special atmosphere!

The check out process is very smooth and done at the vill. Which is very comfortable!

At the end, I would like to mention few more people, the interaction with whom made our stay awesome: Mr. Jean Pascal (the butler supervisor), always kind and eager to assist; Mr Sadeck, for you hospitality at the restaurant.

And many others from electric car drivers to reception specialist!

PS: also you can try the hotel’s SPA. There are steam and dry sauna available at no additional cost. I personally tried Sport Massage and it was for me a surprise: the lady told me that it is Swedish technic she used. And it was a very good sport massage for my back! Thank you!
