“Wine lovers' delight”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This house was in a wonderful location. In a tiny village, it stands at the top of a hill overlooking a valley of vineyards. The view from the master bedroom is particularly nice. But we also enjoyed sitting at the dining table with the windows open to the yard. You could hear many birds (including a rooster) and see the flowers in the yard. The house is surrounded by roses, which were blooming The house is filled with light, in both the morning and evening. While we didn't get to to try out the pool due to the weather, it too is in a lovely spot just down from the house. It is a 10-15 minute drive to Saint Emillion, which is well worth a visit, and close to many vineyards. We visited several that were quite spectacular. There was also a really nice restaurant with an outstanding wine list just down the road in Saint Genes (5 minutes). And markets everyday in different locations within a few minutes drive. The house was well equipped for coking, so we enjoyed muddling about with the food and wine. There's also a marked walking path through the vineyards, which provided a pleasant break from the eating. The owners live next door and are extraordinarily gracious hosts. All in all thoroughly recommended for a peaceful get away.

“Great House - We love staying here.”

We have stayed at Maison Haute twice in the past two years. We love it and have already booked for next year. Having a young family this is a very easy and relaxing holiday.
The house is fantastic, it's well equipped and the views are to die for. The house is a good size for 2 families which doesn't make you feel like you are on top of each other.
Great garden and the pool is perfect being a short walk through the orchids when you have small children.
It's close to St Emilion, and the neighbouring villages and local vineyards are great to visit. The beaches are a full day outing but worth it. Local markets are also great.
There are great restaurants in the surrounding villages (less than 10 mins drive) that happily except young children and many have lovely outdoor areas so children are not confined to their seats.
We were also impressed that having visited 2 years running we could see the improvements made to the property, ie new BBQ, fans in the bedrooms, new TV.
Only one frustration is the wifi reception. It is really bad and in our opinion should be next on the list to be rectified.

“We had a great holiday based in this lovely and extremely comfortable house.”

This is a beautiful old property, set in a lovely quiet hamlet in amongst the vineyards, with stunning views from the windows over the countryside. The owners, who are very friendly and helpful (but not intrusive!), have made sure that there is everything you could need in the house and outside. The pool is the warmest outdoor pool we've ever been, the garden orchard great for the kids to play and for us to relax in.

“A lovley gîte in a tranquil ambience”
Reviewed 12 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed here with our four person family during 2 weeks in July.
Our hosts were very friendly and very helpful with tips and hospitality.
The Gîte was clean, tidy and well equipped. The kitchen equipment was well usable. The pool, which is used by the owner, unfortunately, was too warm. However, we also had very hot days and the pool had a plastic cover.

The house is surrounded by vineyards. However, this has little negative effect that the winemaker also are constantly with their tractors at work. Especially in the still cool morning hours. We were still able to sleep with the windows open.

Only the WiFi was lousy. To this end, a separate router or a booster for the house would create remedy.

In summary, this accommodation is highly recommended.

Management Response
22 May 2013
Thank you for the review and suggestions: RE WIFI indeed there were problems and we have now managed to improve service. Re toilets, however, 2 separate toilets for 7-8 persons seems correct. We never advertised "en suite bathrooms" for every room just for one room. Nevertheless, 2 shower rooms and one bathroom with tub and 3 ensuite lavabos seem fairly generous for a holiday home. We have never had 8 adults who requested 8 individual beds. We usually have 2-3 couples in double beds. In fact the house is ideal for 2-3 couples plus 2-4 children.
