The Historical information on Chewton was terrific, lots to read, the ambience of this home is warm and cosy, and the Spa bath is huge, loved the Gas open fire could stay here longer next time to explore the area further, terrific place if you like mining history to explore
Took the missus and pupper away for the weekend and totally enjoyed our stay there, there is even dog bowls and cleanupbags provided, the backyard is large and secure so he didnt have to stay inside all the time. Loved the place, very beautiful inside and out. Hard to find a place both luxurious and pet friendly, definitely recommend and hope to return.
Loved Henriettas, really clean and super comfortable, everything is thought of, luxurious, loved the spa, candles, sound system, bed and bathrobes very lush, a real treat. The history is really interesting, our host Kerri greeted us and showed us around, told us the about the place and area. Bushwalks from the front door, maps provided, so much to see and do in the area too. Highly recommended for escaping city life, totally looked after, we are telling all our friends In NZ and we so will be back!
Henrietta's is beautiful. Exactly as described, no, it's better. We were there in time to see the magnolia in full bloom and it's glorious from the front porch. The roses are not yet going, but from how may are there, it'll be magnificent later in spring.
Red wines by the fireplace, and in the spa, and on the porch, we ate out in Castlemaine though the kitchen looked magnificent. Everything is taken care of.
So interesting to read about the property and see the archaeology from the gardens on display too. Loved it. We went bushwalking on the trails just across the road, there were plenty of maps provided in the lounge. Would highly recommend to a friend. Thankyou for a glorious weekend!
Staying at Henrietta’s B&B was a dream. After a scenic country drive, we were met on arrival by our host, the lovely Kerri, who gave us a tour of the house and told us its incredibly rich history. Built in 1917, the house boasts an array of historical details and modern creature comforts. Henrietta’s comes equipped with all you could ask for in a weekend getaway. The amenities were luxurious and well supplied, including a huge spa bath, modern kitchen (dishwasher, fridge, microwave and coffee machine) and washer and dryer. The bed was made up with Sheridan sheets, electric blankets and fresh fluffy towels. A gas fireplace, multiple heaters throughout the house and a split air-conditioning system kept us warm all weekend. We began our trip with an ambling walk along the beautiful ‘Goldfield’s Track’, directly adjacent to the front porch. This scenic track delivered spectacular wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies and varied birds. We were also stoked to explore a gorgeous ruin left from the Goldrush era. After our walk, we enjoyed a glass of red on the porch, watching the chattering galahs, cockatoos and crimson rosellas in the gum trees. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we filled the spa bath up and blissed out to music over the excellent sound system speakers. The following day we explored the town of Castlemaine, including Goldrush diggings sites, the gorgeous art gallery, Wesley Hill market, the old Gaol and ‘The Mill’. Other hi lights of our stay included all the minute details of the house, such as original plasterwork, a bountiful lemon tree, flowering magnolia, handpicked artwork, a well appointment bookcase, large plasma TV and the warmest, most comfortable bathrobes ever. Could not recommend Henrietta’s or its humble host, Kerri, more highly. If you are looking for the perfect weekend away from city life with a slice of true Australiana, this it it. Thank you once again for such a wonderful stay.
