These apartments are looking dated, but in our case the apartment was clean and well maintained.

The free Wi-Fi was reasonably fast.

With a view of the mouth of the river and beach it provided a perfect vista for our stay.

This was low season and there was therefore limited traffic passing, but I can imagine it would be very busy during the school holidays, given the vast amount of accommodation and camp sites in the town.

In the past it was managers Brian and Lorelle Young who helped to make the apartments such a success. There are now new managers who have just taken over.

They were helpful, but seemed shell shocked by the amount of work involved. No doubt they will soon find their feet. In the meantime it would be helpful if they could give a brief rundown of the apartment and how things work, rather than leaving us to work things out for ourselves.

It would also be helpful if they could tell you the location of the nearest supermarket, bread shop, takeaway, etc. etc. In fact, all are conveniently just a short walk along the road, but we had to find out for ourselves.

Anyone considering coming to Kalbarri in February should bear in mind that several of the cafes, resturants and other businesses are closed, or have taken their holidays, after the end of the school holidays. This makes it feel a little like a ghost town, but nevertheless, does mean the main river gorge and cliff sites are no longer crowded with tourists.

My wife and I took my brother, who was visiting from the UK, to Kalbarri for a 3 night stay at apartment 15. We arrived earlier than check in time so decided to grab some well earned refreshments after our 7 hour journey from Perth. The apartment is privately owned and the arrangements for check in were made directly with the owner Mark. I messaged him as we sat down at the local tavern and he said he was 10 minutes away...sure enough, 10 minutes later he was there and ready to let me check us in early. The apartment was immaculate. Well furnished with a homely feel and two bedrooms. One with a king size bed and one with a double and single. The decor was modern, it was very clean and the artwork on the walls gave you a sense of welcoming homely warmth. Mark has thought of everything. From every kitchen utensil you could possibly need, right down to hats for sun protection and hats with fly nets to keep those pesky irritants away if you decide to venture out when they are at their worst. We settled in and instantly felt comfortable. We found an issue with the aircon remotes..I messaged mark to let him know and was at the apartment in 5 minutes with replacements. A text message from mark on the Sunday morning led to me walking out the front and being greeted by mark with a freshly caught cray fish! Picking the largest from his catch, he gave the best advice on preparation and cooking...which led to a fantastic meal that night. A thoughtful gesture which just added to the whole experience. Upon checking out the following morning, he arrived within 5 minutes of me messaging and promptly completed the process before offering advice to take it easy on the drive out as roos would probably be on the road for a while....he wasn’t wrong and we managed to drive out of kalbarri without incident after encountering 4 or 5 Roos on the road outside kalbarri. I can’t recommend this property highly enough..Mark was on hand at the drop of a hat if needed and his generous gift of the cray fish and a hat for my wife as we left, left us wanting to return very soon.

Excellent river view
Clean and comfortable room
Located in the center of town
A better quality outdoor setting on the balcony would have made for a great place to relax in the morning with a coffee or afternoon drinks

During our stay we were disrupted and treated with horrible service by the reception and owners. Would not recommend staying there if your looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy your time in Kalbarri, period.

As the name suggests the motel faces the Murchison River and it is an easy walk to the shops and businesses on the West side of town. The apartment was self-contained with separate lounge room and bed rooms which were clean and well maintained.
