“Fun and Beautiful sunset cruise”
Review of Lookout Cruises

Lookout Cruises
Reviewed 29 March 2017

We went on their sunset cruise. Great catamaran sail boat. The tour was popular but the boat provided sufficient room to move around and did not feel crowded. Some of the more daring souls rode in the heavy net spanning the space between the hills in the front which looked fun but even in clam water the risk of getting wet was significant.

We saw views of quaint Beaufort from the water going out and coming in. Sunset was beautiful and views of Cape Lookout were nice.

The crew was helpful and knowledgeable. Our guest from the Midwest were excited and pleased with the cruise.

Thank Jon L

My husband and I planned a trip to the coast of NC so we decided to take a sunset cruise. We had never done anything like this before but we love watching the sun as it sets most anytime and this would be a first. The crew was very friendly and my husband and I felt very safe and at ease. We were offered a drink and there was quite a variety-alcoholic and nonalcoholic. The lemonade I had was just right sweet/tart. Although I had the impression that there would be appetizers or finger foods available, there were none.
As we ventured out to the open waters, we saw wildlife such as sea gulls, pelicans and the horses on Shackleford Island. During the cruise we were able to walk around the vessel freely. The captain informed us about some historical facts about the area and how it was settled. My husband and I took many pictures and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Not even for a second did we have motion sickness or feel uneasy. The group of college kids that was on the trip sat on the front of the boat and a couple of times they were splashed by waves of water and got wet, but we older folks were in the back didn't feel a drop. I think everyone had a very good time and the colors of the sunset that evening were absolutely beautiful.

We did the sunset cruise as a last minute idea for something to do while in Beaufort. It was absolutely amazing! Great crew that was very accommodating and informative. The view..... no words to describe how beautiful it was!
You got to do this cruise!

Captain Steve, Lisa and first mate Mandy are the perfect hosts! Steve's vessel is a huge catamaran that slices through the water effortlessly for a very comfortable ride. In the past 10 years visiting the Crystal Coast and Beaufort we have sailed every year. The sunset cruise is very relaxing and the Cape Lookout tour from noon-6:00 pm is best. Food, drink, camaraderie, sea shell search and the Cape Lookout lighthouse is phenomenal. Don't leave the area without sailing with Captain Steve!

This was our favorite part of our short trip. The Cape Lookout sail was fantastic. Yes it's 6 hours; 1.5 hours out, two stops, and 1.5 hours back. Steve is a friendly, skilled and calm sailor bringing us in among nice swells and sprays at 12+knots. The boat holds up to 38? passengers yet our trip included 15 which was really nice leaving lots of space to move about. Our sail was late August on a Sunday so likely less busy than peak-summer or Saturdays. There is plenty of shade underneath and lots of open air on deck or on the two tramps. Such a beautiful way to see the waterfront and experience the islands, shelling, snorkeling or swimming. The boat is custom out-fitted for these type of sails with fresh-water shower, nice sturdy stairs for getting off the boat onto the beach and docks, and a restroom. We were served a tasty lunch of wraps (including vegetarian option), potato salad, pasta salad, blueberry cake. There was watermelon after one return and the skipper passed out snacks on the final. They also provide ice, filtered water, lemonade and a selection of beer for purchase at $2/can. It was a perfect day and we look forward to experiencing other sails through Lookout Cruises.
