Our group recently had dinner at Vin Rouge and it was a wonderful experience. Our waiter, from Clemson, SC, added to our enjoyment with his wit and suggestion's. For our appetizers we had the Onion Soup (outstanding) and the potato/cheese/bacon casserole (outstanding +). Our entrees were the roast chicken, calves liver, mac & cheese(famous for this) and filets in brandy cream sauce. All were great! Dessert was the lemon tart and apple bread pudding(Great). Overall, one of our best dinners in quite a while.

My wife and I went to Vin Rouge to celebrate our anniversary, and it was wonderful!

There is a reason why the French spend 4 hours eating dinner and why their portion sizes are so much smaller then ours. Vin Rouge delivers US sized portions of French food. It is incredibly filling and very rich. We wished we had paced ourselves better, because we could barely get through our 3 courses.

The mussels were fabulous, some of the best I've ever had. The French onion soup was covered in fantastic Gruyere, the broth maybe needed a little more seasoning but was very good. If there is a complaint it is the dressing in the mixed salad... It is bland... Needs more acid to brighten it up.

The main courses were sensational... Steak frites and Gratinee, both excellent, unfortunately we had to tap out after a few bites. Vin rouge has a good wine list, although the Bordeaux I had was good but forgettable.

Service was excellent, Attentive and friendly without being cloying. Although courses were probably too fast under normal circumstances it suited the fact that we had a 7pm ball game. The ticket for a 3 course meal for 2 with wine was under $100, absolutely good value for this quality. Thank you Vin Rouge.

My wife and I anticipated a fine French dinner in this Durham restaurant. The table next to us was filled with loud individuals acting like they were eating at a German beer hall; they were raucous, extremely loud and with no sense of decorum. The staff merely humored the inappropriate behavior. Any possibility of a romantic dinner was lost.

We had four courses and each was of average quality. Our problems were typified by the burnt bread served with the liver pate. Also, the fillets were tough and, like the fish, they were served warm but not hot. Given the reputation and the high cost of this meal we would not return to Vin Rouge. That being said management did try to address our concern and they were apologetic.

Went for Valentine's Day dinner here and was really pleased with the experience. Service was quite good, the atmosphere was perfect, the wine selection was extensive and quite good, and the food was delicious. We got a bottle of bordeaux wine to share and were quite impressed. The mac n cheese was incredibly tasty, as was the ham and cheese with fries. The back room is quite small, and a large group came in towards the end of our meal that was so loud that it made it a bit unpleasant. That would be my only complaint, but otherwise a perfect dining experience.
