We enjoy visiting the Outer Banks. This was the first time we stayed at the Outer Banks Beach Club. due to the time of year the weather was iffy. Our unit was fine for our stay except the phone did not work. I was a little surprised that the registration person could not help with restaurant suggestions. This is a large complex and we think we would prefer staying her during the off seasons. We found one that we have gone to on several occasions - Sam & Omie's which is always good and 3 new restaurants for us - Miller's Waterfront, Ocean Bistro and Martini Bar, and Rooster's Southern Kitchen. We would encourage guests to take a look at these as well. Unfortunately, the Colington Café doesn't open till April 1st.

So much to see and do here. Enjoyed our time here. Proximity to the Wright facility is a big plus. The amenities were great also. Thank you for a great week! The weather could have been a little warmer but what did we expect in March!

Our ocean views were fantastic. Although we were pool side and not direct waterfront, we could see the ocean on two sides of the buildings from our living room and kitchen. We could see the waves breaking and from the front door, could hear the ocean waves crashing on the shore. The place was so well stocked and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is our third time to Outer Banks Beach Club and look forward to next year.

We went during the OBX off-season courtesy of an owner "give-away" for a non-profit organization (Cats Cradle, Harrisonburg VA) that we volunteer with. It was a volunteer appreciation "grand prize".
We picked up groceries at a Food Lion close to the resort on our way in. The kitchen in our unit had all the utensils/pans/silverware/plates/glasses/etc we needed to make meals in our room.
There was a snow storm making its way across the area on the evening we arrived. It was actually kind of neat being on the beach and watching the storm go out to sea at night. In the morning there was quite a bit of snow on the ground/cars. We had some guests and staff help us get our car out of the lot. That was fun! A lot of laughing & tire spinning... but we got out. But the sun was full-out that morning & it was beautiful. Within the next few days it warmed up enough to melt it all away. It was mainly in the upper 40s & 50s during our stay. We enjoyed long walks on the beach, hot coffee in the morning sun on the deck right outside our room, sunrises & shell-hunting. My husband even found a seal on the beach!!! (they stop on the beaches there in the OBX during winter migration). We picked up some great souvenirs at clearance prices, too (because it was off-season). Also found a few great seafood restaurants that were open during this time like Mako's & Hurricane Mo's that we enjoyed.
*I will note that many restaurants/shops/tourist attractions are closed during this time in order to renovate/repair/upgrade.
We knew what to expect coming to the OBX during off-season but we made the most of what they had to offer & were NOT disappointed. Going to the OBX during January was still very relaxing & enjoyable for the whole family. We enjoyed an hour at the pool & hot tub in the resort. Very clean & well-maintained...and heated, just like it says! We had the whole thing to ourselves that afternoon (yay off-season!!!) If you get a chance, go check out a movie at Ye Olde Pioneer Theater in Manteo. It's a nice short drive from here. Tickets & concessions are priced right & it was a nice experience for all of us (my teenagers got to see the new Star Wars movie here & there weren't ANY complaints! It was a great evening.) Overall... it was a very enjoyable trip. We would love to come back sometime during the warmer months when we can swim in the ocean & check out ALL the fun things the OBX has to offer.
The Outer Banks Beach Club was comfortable & met all our needs. We would definitely stay here again.

To be honest, there's not a lot going on in the outer banks in Febraury- except construction and repairs. Most shops and restaurants were closed . There were a lot of renovations going on at the resort. And it was very cold and windy walking on the beach. It wasn't a problem for us, as this was a "working" vacation and it was pretty quiet here. We tried fishing down at hatteras, but the water was too cold- not a single bite. We took advantage of the freeYMCA passes available at the office and used the indoor pool at the resort. Staff was friendly and helpful.
