“Experienced, professional, & wonderful diving...what is not to like!”

Olympus Dive Center
Reviewed 16 November 2017 via mobile

Had a fantastic day diving with Olympus end of October. We caught them winding down to weekends for the season. B-lined it from Norfolk, VA to make sure we caught U-352 WWII U-boat.

We were not disappointed!

The most professional dive operator we have ever been out with! This is a good thing. They take your safety and enjoyment seriously. .

Olympus is large-ish (20 peeps), but we traveled for 1.5 hrs to get to Dive site and we had room for everyone without being on top of one another. Well appointed with nice bellow deck area & head.

2-tank advanced, deep dives, Nitrox: WWII U-352 & Icarus Coast Guard Cutter

U-352: 95-115'; 50' viz, slight current
We are not big wreck divers, but after visiting Norfolk Naval base & maritime museum, & finding out about the sub, we had to Dive it. We prefer historical wrecks to artificial ones. tied off at how. Could see torpedo tubes, dive planes, conning tower, etc. Got lucky with sand tiger sharks here as well. Very fishy with bait fish.

Icarus: 95-115'; 60' viz, slight current
Artificial wreck. 10+ sand tiger sharks! These are docile & bottom feeders. They look mean but are docile bottom feeders (think related to nurse sharks). They came within 3' of us! Always calm. Just curious....loved every second with them. Extremely fishy Dive! Wreck is deviant, but you are hear for fish & sharks!

This is not valet diving, and we like it this way! You set up your own gear. We believe divers should always take responsibility for their own gear, safety, and make sure ready for dive. Good habits! Some of best briefings we have ever had as well.

No Guide. It is up to you and your buddy to plan your Dive & Dive your plan. You can request a guide prior to departure for an additional fee.

Hang line & spare air under boat for additional safety.

Pack your own lunch.

Final thoughts:
Originally felt expensive, but given distance to Dive sites, level if service, & professionalism we would not hesitate to dive with Olympus again! We hardly ever give a 5 star rating....

Three days of awesome dives with Olympus. The crew was super helpful and the dives were awesome! We were able to get to some awesome sites. My favorites were the Caribe Sea and the U-352. Stayed in the dive lodge (definitely not luxury but absolutely perfect to lay your head after a long day on the water) I will definitely dive with them again.

Chartered a two tank dive trip with Olympus. Arrived the day before the trip and registered, analyzed my tanks, and loaded my equipment. Everyone working here is very professional and serious about safety. We were hoping to get to the U-352 submarine, but current and visibility conditions were not conducive to a good dive. We instead dove the Aeolus. Travis and John the dive masters were very helpful and knowledgeable. Captain Bob gave an excellent safety briefing and guidance about how to dive this particular wreck for the most enjoyment. We saw two medium to large Sand Tiger sharks as well as tons of other fish. If you have never dove in North Carolina, I would highly recommend this crew.

The Olympus Dive Center is professional, helpful, and just plain fun. The shop is well stocked with gear, apparel, and reference materials. The boats are clean, well laid out, and well maintained. If you are looking to dive the Graveyard of the Atlantic, Olympus is the smart choice.

Had a great dive with them. Once on the boat, very professional and helpful. Would dive with them again next time I'm in town.
